Alpitronic HYC 400 has high reliability and is used by BP Pulse, Circle K, EnBW, Mercedes, Porsche and Audi charging lounges in Europe and Ionna, and Walmart in the US.

The first units are installed at the Florida Mall in Orlando.

Good that they're more reliable, but the underlying issue with EA is the number of stalls.
When temperature drops enough that range becomes an issue, I have options of four stall Manchester and Seabrook, and six stall Merrimack NH.
I avoid the first two because of availability anxiety.

In the EU we know those chargers quite well, they're used by Fastned. I can confirm they work well with Taycans.

They are by far the most common charger in Denmark and also very common in Germany. Ionity have also started using them on new sites (along with their other models though).

Very reliable in my experience.

I used one at a BP Pulse in January and it was great! Worked smoothly and I also loved the detailed stats and status screen, complete with charging curve for the session.

As said, Alpitronic make decent chargers. We’ve used HYC300 series for years over this side of the pond - many CPOs here use them.

The 400 series offer even better granularity and obviously overall power when two cars are charging.

I’d also rate Kempower units, but don’t know if you can get them stateside. They have decentralised architecture, similar to Tesla with serving ‘satellite’ units that go back to central cabinets which can share and allocate power across all connected satellites.

I wonder how long it will be before EV drivers will need to know as little about who manufactured their DC fast charging dispensers as ICE drivers have to know about who built their gas pumps.

likely not. I'm guessing they're converting the older units (ABB/Signet/BTC/Efacec) first, they just invested the SF Flagship with the newest Signet

Supposedly the EA location at Waterford Commons in CT (USA) also has these new units, though according to Plugshare they just re-opened yesterday, and Plug&Charge is not yet supported. If anyone passes that way it might be an interesting side-trip.
