Buyers of New Porsche Taycan Face Wait Times of 6 to 9 Months

I find it weird that Ukrainian electronics manufacturers are having issues. All the facilities are in the western parts of the country and all copper is imported from somewhere else. Possible cause might be sea ports but trucking companies picked up the pace significantly (I believe more than 200%) to compensate for other supply bottlenecks. It feels like an artificially created deficit to drive the prices up.

6-9 months is almost back to pre-pandemic times. It took 20 months for mine.

4 months plus one day deposit to delivery (2-23-23). Things have changed a lot in just 6 months.

Four month wait for an allocation, followed by order with deposit mid-August. Maybe next week it will finally show up, or maybe it will be delayed another six months for a heater module?

Paid for my deposit on 1st of April 2022 and this morning finally got a text from my sales advisor that I have been given an allocation for a June 2023 production (so not the 2024 model year). So expecting maybe August if all goes well before I get my hands on the Cross Turismo

I guess I was one of the lucky ones. Ordered in July 2021 got it delivered November 2021.

That was the timeline I was given when I placed my order in July 2021 - delivery November, maybe December 2021.
As it was I took delivery in December 2022.
It is possible the sales manager at the dealer I used let his regular and finance customers jump ahead of me for allocation even if they placed a later order.
The "production" took from mid April 2022 to end of July 2022, maybe my unusual spec caused extra waits for a batch of blackberry interiors or something like that. Anyway it lacked the 12V battery so rather than being delivered in August 2022 it went into storage.
I had a second test drive to make sure I didn't want to cancel the order - I am glad I didn't.

This is why it is stupid to wait. There are also many new cars in stock in Germany ready to go in the showrooms. There are 2 I have my eye on.

I ordered in June 2021, and was told allocation in October 2021, delivery December 2021 best case, but might slip into Q1 2022. In September 2022 I still had no allocation and was told I was in the exact same place on the waitlist (Turbo sedan and CT lists have merged as MY23 allocations became universal). After over a year of searching and talking to more dealers than I can remember, I found an allocation on the other side of the country, picked up the car mid February 2023.

So much easier this year.
Last year no batteries for any cars, no new cars available and secondhand cars selling for a huge premium over list price here in the UK.
New cars have to be sold at list but there weren't any.

If you can find a car in a showroom which matches your wants and needs, I absolutely agree. For me, this was definitely not the case.
