I beleive this happened to me yesterday.
22 gts
330 miles on the odometer.

Pulling into a parking spot, so going very slow, heard a very slight noise/thump, i stopped because I thought I tapped the cub in front of me. Ends up I was still feet away and the car was in park. I assume the noise was motors/brakes locking up.

Key was in my left pocket at the time.

I sometimes get a very aggressive stop when the car things I am going to hit something parking in the garage - I think in this instance it’s the cars anti-colllision system. It’s a little too sensitive for me, but I know if I turn it off I’ll regret it at some point….

Mention of charger software malfunction triggering shift to park or neutral per this post in a different thread:

Just spoke with my SA about this update. He said my car (build date 3rd March 2022) already has the update so it doesn’t apply to me. At 150miles odometer my car shifted itself into neutral and started jerking back and forth….

Less then 700 miles on my Taycan. Base. AT a stop light the car shifts into park. The first time was not fun. The 2nd time, I knew to just shift it into drive and continue on. I brought it to my Porsche dealer. They kept my car, and are issuing a refund, saying the car is not safe to drive, and there is no known repair. Waiting for my refund.

WHAAAT - they’re refunding price and taking back the car????? Me personally- no way would I do that. Does anyone think this problem is so dangerous that they no longer want their car?

And has it been confirmed that the problem isn’t the result of having an older software version that needs to be updated?

Just checked the NHTSA site. There are only 10 reported issues of this. I’d say a lot of people seeing the issue are not reporting it, and just relying on someone else to fix the problem for them.

There is now a TSB for this: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2022/MC-10210797-0001.pdf

It's very serious. Based on this it can happen on all 2022 Taycans with the 11kW on-board charger (not with the 22kW one strangely enough).

When this issue is reported to dealers, dealers have to immediately provide a Porsche Mobility Loaner Vehicle, and get in touch with their senior specialist at PCNA.

Based on the information that is requested (even the sales contract) it does seem like Porsche is taking this serious enough that they will authorise repurchases. Take your car to your dealer at your own risk with this issue. Until a fix is available, they might just not allow you to drive your car until it's fixed. Loaner availability is terrible, so don't expect to just get one.

Be aware that dealers have had this document since April 13th. If they've been saying they don't know anything, they're holding back information on purpose. Insist that they take action on Bulletin #2209 if you no longer want to drive your car like this.

Even if it happens to mine again, there's no way I am bringing mine in because who knows how long they're going to keep it, or even buy it back from me (as reported by another member) just to resell it for a profit.

Thanks a lot for finding and posting this.

I've been browsing NHTSA site for "manufacturer communications" related to my 22 4S for months and had not found any. What I have learned after your post is that this and 65 other Porsche documents are only shown on that site for 2022 Porsche Taycan 4DR RWD model. The model I had been checking - 2022 Porsche Taycan 4DR 4S AWD - lists none. Maybe that is because the 4DR RWD is the first model listed in the NHTSA model drop-down list.

Link to 2022 Taycan manufacturer communications is: https://www.nhtsa.gov/vehicle/2022/PORSCHE/TAYCAN/4%2520DR/RWD#manufacturerCommunications

Thanks again for sharing.

Conjecture on my part but I think this problem isn’t software related. If it was Porsche would be all over it working on a download fix. Instead I think it’s likely a problem with chips controlling the park/neutral/drive functions - probably a bad batch of them which explains why not all Taycan owners are experiencing this problem, and further likely Porsche knows exactly what the problem is but can’t get its hands on enough replacements chips for a fix. And of course those chips are integrated on electronic controller boards so who knows how complicated/difficult a repair would be. But I don’t believe for a micro second that Porsche doesn’t know exactly the reasons and fix for this problem.

Kind of sucks having the excitement and joy of being a new Taycan owner tarnished by this sword of damacles hanging over our heads, wondering if/when we’ll experience it.
