Hi all,
This is for EU/Swiss.

I'm moving soon to a new place and the charging cable isn't long enough anymore to reach a plug at the new place.

Can I extend it with a normal plug extension cable (type 13 10amp); from a normal household plug (type 13)? What sort of speeds of charging can I expect like this?

Generally not recommended. If you understand how to calculate electrical loads and losses, you could possibly execute safely. However, nothing you do here will improve charging speeds.

Do not use this type of extension cable. Source a proper extender for your EVSE to car cable.

If you're asking if it's electrically possible to use an extension cable, then yes it's technically possible.

If you're asking if it's a good idea, then no, absolutely not. If you have to ask then it's probably not something you should do. A regular household extension cord is typically not designed to handle continuous 2.3kW power over an extended amount of time like with an EV charger.

If you really want to do it, then you should check with an actual electrician to make sure that you don't burn your house down.

You can get longer EV charging leads.
Probably a safer bet.
From porsche? Not really, no. I have the 7.5m one, and it doesn't reach.

Can the type 2 / mode 3 cable be used as an extension cable?

How much do you need? It seems like Deltaco has a 10m Type 2 cable.

This one looks exactly like the mode 3 cable from porsche, aka a charging cable, as opposed to an extension one, and they don't work.

Anyone know where to buy the 7.5m Porsche cable? Mine came with the short cable from the guy i bought my Taycan from and it just barely reaches. Dealer told me I can’t buy the 7.5m one.

I used one of these to extend it; I used it with my Mustart charger to be able to run a cable from my dryer point to my car whilst waiting for the new garage outlet.

Buy this. It will handle ALL J1772 extension situations, no matter what kind of pigtail you have attached to your charger. The alternative would be buying extension cords for each and every plug you need one for. Buy this and you're covered no matter where you are trying to AC charge.
