There is no “preferred timer”.

You likely have a preferred time in a profile.

Delete the profile and switch to a timer.

Or post screen shots of your setting with a description of your desired charging result for more help.

You can set preferred charging times in a profile but either the profile might not be active or a timer is set which overrides it as timers take priority over profiles

Hello

Thanks for the reply - Sorry i didn’t
fully understand ?

yes I have set a preferred time
I have a cheaper night time tariff from 12.30am -430am and would like to only charge in these times.

You said switch to a time
However The timer option doesn’t allow a “range” of time slots for charging but only a destination time - so that wouldn’t work ?

Also on the profile section what is “general charging “ home charging I understand

I have attached as you have my current profile

thanks in advance

timers take priority over profiles
Timers don’t take priority. They are additional, separate instructions that can be used with or without profiles.

yes I have set a preferred time
Min charge in the profile charges to that value immediately.

You should delete the profile and set a timer to whatever you want your max SoC to be (e.g. 85%) and set the departure time to 4:30am. It was start charging relative to the 4:30am.

You might be able to also set a 2nd timer to 12:30am @ 25% SoC to limit the charging start window. I'm going to test that later today.

Ok. So timers don’t override profiles but they do interact. The suggestion to set departure to 4.30am won’t help if you want the car warmed up when you leave home at 7.30 am.

GTK states this:
After reaching the programmed minimum charge level, the high-voltage battery is charged beyond the programmed minimum charge level according to the functions Set preferred charging time and Optimised charging. With the function Set preferred charging time, the high-voltage battery can be charged at specified times, for example to make use of temporary charging tariffs. In conjunction with suitable charging equipment, the Optimised charging function enables the networking of the vehicle with the local charging infrastructure, e.g. the automatic use of specific charging tariffs or charging with solar power.

So as suggested, change the minimum charge down to something lower (30-50%) and set a timer for your departure time with optimised charging. Maybe that will work

Agreed, but that was not in op's stated description of desired results.
Could also be accomplished by a timer at 7:30 with no charging selected.

It will still charge outside of the preferred times if the timer requires it. It will just "prefer" the selected time and use that time for as much of the charging as possible. The only thing doing this adds is the option to set the precondition at a later time as well as push additional non-preferred charging to be after rather than before the preferred charge time.

Hello - thanks for taking the time to reply, I really appreciate it 🙏

so sorry but this has all gone over my head.🤯

i especially changed energy provider last week to Octopus so that I could take advantage of cheaper electricity from 12.30am to 430am

all I require is a timer to only charge in this time range.

i didn’t realise it would be so complicated 🤔

Here's what I think you can do. I'm running a test right now to confirm:

  • Deactivate all Profiles
  • Make a timer with the following settings:
    • Repeat: all days
    • Departure time: 12:30am
    • Precondition: Off
    • Charging: On
    • Charge To: 25%
  • Make a second timer with the following settings:
    • Repeat: all days
    • Departure time: 4:30am
    • Precondition: Off (unless you want the car conditioned at this time)
    • Charging: On
    • Charge To: desired SoC (e.g. 85%)

It's really quite simple

Set a daily timer for the main time slot and a minimum charge level in a profile of 25%. Activate both the timer and profile.

To add additional time slots add further timers and activate.

Read the owner's manual and / Porsche Good To Know App or search this forum as we have discussed this topic to death over the last 2 years.

@Harinder Paul I confirmed this appears to work this way, if you really want to strictly limit charging times at the expense of possibly not reaching a target SoC.

Edit: never mind. It continued to charge for me after the desired time. Maybe still worth trying yourself, but did not work as expected.

Edit again. It did stop on its own a little later.

Why do you need the first timer at 12h30? It will do the same if you just set one at 4h30 at 85% SoC.

If it had to start before 12h30 it means the car needs a longer time to charge to 85% and can’t be charged during the best hours anyway. If so you could charge more often or if you do use to much battery % on your daily drive it is just not possible. Or you need a more powerful charger.

By setting a departure time at 4h30 it will included the four cheap electricity hours and the ones outside this timeframe would have been necessary anyway.
