When I got it some years ago, it would always show battery as empty every winter (below 0C). At least on android-app. Might be they stoped producing it before sw was fixed.

Interesting and useful information. Didn't know it had issues in subzero temperatures (not that I deal with that here).

I'm really itching installing it SOMEWHERE right now

Unfortunately, the C-tek (and all Chinese BM2 up to the latest BM6) will clear its eeprom on total power failure in less than 30 seconds. This basically means that once the 12v goes offline, you lose all evidence of what led to the offline status.

It seems mind boggling to me why companies that are making these devices don't switch over to flash roms which are currently cheaper than eeproms and would be able to hold the data forever regardless of power loss.

Maybe someone will read this and make such a device and become rich.
