Just don’t attempt Interstate 80 (Wyoming!?!) or Interstate 90 (nothing, nada, zilch west of Wisconsin)

Better have a towing service on retainer for when you arrive at charger(s) that are out of service.

Observations:

If you live in the upper midwest you are SOL

I-20 from South Carolina to Texas needs chargers

Need chargers in WV. If you are attempting to go from VA to OH you are SOL without a significant detour

Tesla had similar gaps early on, and still does for many routes. For both Tesla and EA, building an infrastructure such as this will always be a work in progress. For Tesla, they need to expand many Superchargers because of wait time for an available charger. For EA, they have a huge gap in equipment reliability expectations. EA has numerous other issues, but they need to work on reliability big time.

It willl be a long time before that part of the country is EV friendly. That’s oil country. Used to be you couldn’t drive a Tesla through the panhandle.

As the EA map shows, you’re good in the urban centers of the NE and SW, but the rural parts require planning.

Well, they don't call the desert Southwest the desert for nothing. Suggest no one try to drive from Las Vegas to Phoenix or vice versa. The lack of 50kW stations in Needles CA or Kingman AZ make the trip exciting if not dangerous! Both possible routes between Las Vegas and Phoenix have 200+ mile legs where there are no 50kW or better charging stations. Besides who wants to charge their vehicles for 2-3 hours or more when it is 110-120F like it will be this weekend here! BTW. There are only Level 2 J-1772 7kW charging stations in both locations. There is only one in Kingman and it is often off line, and the 4 each ones in Needles are at a City of Needles building and are often in use by city vehicles.

Wish our government would do what the German government just did...mandate that eventually all gas stations have EV charging stations...don't know what the capacity has to be is though.

Interesting that in Las Vegas/Henderson, Terrible Herbst gas stations have at least one 50kW EV connect charger. There are several of these gas stations near neighborhood shopping centers.

If you take a look at the EA map in the post that started this thread you will see the "hole" in Arizona. They supposedly were to have one in Quartzite, but according to the latest PlugShare.com driver input, they haven't even dug the holes yet!

Don't try Flagstaff to Barstow on I-40 either. I-40 runs through both Kingman and Needles on the way to Barstow (and I-15).
