Experience of collection from Zuffenhausen/Leipzig?

I have noticed that collection from the factory is now an option.
Popping over to DE to collect it and have a tour of the factory sounds like it could be a fun trip.

Has anyone ever done this?
How does this work?
I assume this is a lot more difficult now the UK is outside the single market/custom union.
I am hoping the vehicle already registered with UK plates and that I simply need to insure it.
Many years ago I wrote customs clearance software and I *really* don't fancy having to fill out all the forms to import it myself.

It’s amazing, do it if you can. Mine was pre brexit but very easy, it gets put on German temporary plates and then you have 10 days to get to the U.K. and drop at a dealer to psi and register in the U.K. 100% recommended.
