Car didn’t work when I collected it Nov 23rd, went back to dealers after PPF. They had it a few days, Then it didn’t work soon as I collected it again. Then it went back for 11 days over Christmas and hasn’t worked since I picked it up. Love the car, great dealership, drives well, looks amazing..... but just doesn’t work!!

every day a different issue, like....

1) main car PCM failed to load
2) Apple car play doesn’t load.
3) Pre heating doesn’t work
4) Google maps does have chargers on
5) Glitchy door handles
6) Glitchy folding mirrors
7) Inability to charge.
8) various software issues
9) App doesn’t function.
10) car reported stolen not reading cards while I’m driving it.
11) no dash board what so ever but could drive car!!!
12) interior lights flickering or wrong colours.

lots of other niggles with the way the software glitches the first time you press a button then works the next time.

Fortunately I foreseen them not being able to fix it. Reported it within 30 days that I wanted refund and fortunately in the UK that means fix within 8 weeks or refund the car (or replace)

Really really really want to keep it but I need it for travel and can’t be late in my job and it’s caused me bother 3 times now already.

my only issue is that I’ve spent a couple of £kkk on PPF

Good for you, that’s shocking on new, very expensive car.
Shame about the PPF, you’d like to think that Porsche would pay for the replacement to do done out of good will, but I wouldn’t hold me breath.
Ideally opportunity to upgrade to a Turbo! ;)

So, I picked up my brand new, Ice Grey 2021 model Taycan 4S two weeks before Christmas. The car was delivered to me fully charged and looking beautiful. A few days later, we took it out on its first trip, starting from our central London home at 06.30 in the morning. Five miles into our journey, driving along the elevated section of the M4 in Brentford, a red warning came up on the dashboard: “Major electrical fault”. Within seconds, the car ground to a halt and died. Totally died. The only things that still worked were the hazard warning lights. The car stopped so quickly that we had no time even to manoeuvre to the side of the carriageway.
Frantic calls were made to Porsche Assist and Highways England. The police arrived first and cordoned off our lane of the road; the Highways recovery vehicle arrived next but the guy had not been instructed that it was an electric car and did not know how to move it; the Porsche Assist guy was delayed but told me over the phone that he also had never been instructed as to how to deal with a dead electric Porsche. Meanwhile, our frantic attempts to understand how to open the frunk were scuppered by the fact that the manual is written for left hand drive cars, the diagrams drawn accordingly, and this is not explained in the manual itself. I called Porsche Assist again, now in despair and with the Highways guys understandably threatening to close the entire road and lift the car up by crane (and charge me for the privilege). The excellent Porsche Assist expert finally arrived and he knew how to tow the car onto the truck. All of this took well over two and a half hours, during which time we caused the world’s biggest traffic jam, became freezing cold and absolutely lost faith in the whole idea of being an early adopter in the premium electric car game....
We aborted our journey and went the next day in the basic Audi A3 provided by Porsche Assist....
I received several calls over the following days from the Porsche dealership into which the car had been taken, all saying that they had been unable to diagnose the problem but that I should prepare to be without the car for a long period. In the end, we decided to call Porsche UK to understand our options and were told that we had grounds to file a Rejection Notice and claim a full refund on the car. After much gnashing of teeth, we opted to do that, via the dealer from whom we bought the car, and today I received the full refund.
I have no axe to grind, either with Porsche UK or the dealer, both of whom dealt with the situation as well as could be expected. The Taycan was my fifth Porsche and I acted very quickly to replace the Taycan with an ex-demo Macan Turbo, which arrived last week. However, it is impossible for me to overstate my sense of disappointment in having managed to drive less than ten miles in a car that I had ordered as long ago as last summer and lovingly configured to my precise spec and to see it for the last time being driven from a motorway service station lorry park on the back of a tow truck.
I’m sure I’ll recover in time but for now it’s back to the social irresponsibility of a turbo charged ICE Macan

I submitted my rejection letter as a matter of course within 28 days of the car after they didn’t seem to know what was wrong.

they are brilliant service team but overwhelmed when it comes to electrical systems when no fault is present at the dealership but I have videotaped all the errors. Fortunately.

I wanted this for long journeys so I’m afraid if they can’t fix then I’m not sure another Taycan is for me until Covid is over. I’ll go to my second choice which is a Merc GLE.

sure they will email and say ..... we have a fix!

Unfortunately that is another issue that has been reported by multiple members and there are already 4 complaints about it in the US NHTSA.
Among all reported issues that seems to be the most scary one because it can result in a serious accident. There was a speculation that some DC converter campaign was fixing it so it is disappointing and scary to see it happening in 2021 models too.

I jumped in car after a DC charge and nothing would load, I didn’t have reception as I was in middle of no where. And thought I’ll try and it allowed me to select reverse and move back with nothing loaded. Just a spinning disc in middle screen and hollow drivers screen. I selected forward and then the car kicked into life and worked fine again.

I also had a car pull out in front of me while I was breaking quite a bit, my automatic system brake activated, the car coaster for a moment and then the ABS kicked in. I was no where near the car at this point as he drove off. I would have stopped on my own if it let me but if it was breaking and if he hadn’t pulled off he would have had 2.4ton on Taycan up his Audi. Which is a sore thing.

Porsche have been positioning this to me as a bit of ‘one off’. It’s even more concerning if there are other examples of this happening and that it hasn’t been cured for MY21. It was a frightening and very dangerous situation - my car suddenly stopping without warning ame going completely dead in the middle of a dark motorway... I thought at the time that it was a surprise that the hazard lights did not even come on...

Someone has had this issue twice.... I am surprised that Porsche has not issued some sort of warning or recall.. someone is going to die and there is significant evidence that porsche is aware of this issue....

NHTSA ID Number: 11386164

Incident Date December 18, 2020

Consumer Location CEDAR HILL, TX

Vehicle Identification Number WP0AC2Y17LS****

Summary of Complaint

CRASHNo
FIRENo
INJURIES0
DEATHS0
THE CAR SHOWED AN ELECTRICAL ERROR & LOST POWER THEN SHUT DOWN ON THE FREEWAY. ONCE THE CAR CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP I WAS UNABLE TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE BECAUSE IT LOCKED ME INSIDE. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND HAD I NOT TAKE THE PRECAUTIONS TO EXIT THE FREEWAY I MAY NOT HAVE SURVIVED. THIS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED AS FROM WHAT I?VE READY, THIS HAS BEEN A COMMON ISSUE IN THIS VEHICLE. IT HAPPENED FIRST ON THE ,?DECEMBER 16TH & THEN AGAIN DECEMBER 25TH. SOFTWARE AND THE 12V BATTERY WERE REPLACED THE FIRST TIME, AND THE DAY AFTER THE CAR WAS PICKED UP FROM SERVICE IT HAPPENED AGAIN.

One off! Sorry sir it’s only your car that’s going to kill you. So take it away and enjoy.
