The car did great. I left with a cold battery at 99% charge and drove 262 miles in range mode with 13 miles to spare, mostly down I5 headed south from the Bay Area. The EA charger I used in Bakersfield worked great and took me from 5-85% in the 25 minutes it took me to grab a bite to eat and a drink for the road.

Overall very happy with the 275 mile range!

On an unrelated note: does anyone else have a problem where their CarPlay is dead after AC charging? It connects and shows CarPlay available on the lower screen, but when clicked I just get a blank black upper screen. I’ve noticed that it seems to follow after the Connect app signifies that the car isn’t connected to Porsche’s server.

wow. That's great range. I was thinking I would be happy with 250miles. Great to know. Now this might be my new roadtrip car instead of the Model X. ha.

Any extra noise from the roof fails?

Where were you heading and how's the rest of the trip, charging wise?

Thanks.

With kids down in SoCal UCs and planning Vegas retirement, I'll be making a lot of trips from Bay Area to Vegas and SoCal next year. Hoping to build up confidence in using the CT as road trip car.

The car is a damn bank vault, if the rails were adding noise, then I definitely couldn’t tell. I have the insulated glass option.

I was headed to LA, made it to my destination with 115 miles of range, so pretty uneventful. I’ll be doing the drive from the bay to Vegas, then Vegas to San Diego in about a week and a half so I can let you know.

I did get dinner in hermosa beach last night, where they have free level 2 chargers on the street (ICE cars pay for parking, EVs park and charge free), which was a nice perk to end the day with

I’m interested in what the car stated as the maximum range on 99% when you started and how much using range mode at 75mph helped to improve that.

I’m running 21” wheels and not yet tried the LA run but with 1000 miles on the clock my estimated range at 100% has gone down from 242 to 221

My driving history is clearly not as optimized towards range as yours and I know the wheels kill 10% but you’ve got me wondering how far I could go if I just set the ACC to 75mph.

I get far worse range normally, about 220-230 miles, I’m not easy on this thing.
Screen shot from the beginning of the trip, 5 minutes in:

Next time I’ll turn AC off as I’m sure that would have saved me some range and also kept my lips from getting chapped. I really wish it was smart enough to turn off the compressor automatically, and not just in range mode.

Thats amazing. Best I ever got was 242 miles and that was one time. My average range was more like 215-218 (summer) and also babying it. Winter I would be about 170 or so @ 100% charge.

How many of you are using the 93.4kWh battery? Not quite sure what to expect from my future (Southern CA too) Taycan RWD.

Thanks for the info. I am driving from SF Bay Area to San Diego in a couple of weeks. Did you use the vehicle navigation to know here to charge?

multiple trips to SoCal from Bay Area with no issues.

PCM NAV works great - helps with battery preconditioning if you input the charging station as the destination.

Plug-Share, EA App, all very helpful.
ABRP - gives some good estimated SOC, but if you deviate, then you have to enter the SOC for it to be more accurate.

Stick to PCM NAV if you don't plan ahead.
