I installed a Tesla Gen 3 wall charger along with my NEMA 14-50 outlet and Porsche Mobile Connect and now have both 48amp and 40amp charging available for two EV’s. The charge speed with the Tesla wall unit and Tesla Tap adapter for the CCS plug on the Taycan was 10.43kW, I was getting around 8.5kW with the Porsche Mobile Connect at 40 amps. Mainly upgraded to be able to charge Tesla Model Y, Taycan, and future Rivian SUV all quickly and at least two at the same time. If anyone has a Tesla wall charger, it works great with your Taycan and the Tesla Tap adapter. Thanks to the posts from other forum members for this info., very helpful!

Great to hear!
Could you tell us which TeslaTap adaptor you use? I recently purchase the model MINI but it's only rated 60 amps and I'm sometimes afraid to use it with Tesla destination charger thinking it might be a 80 amps or 100amps and that it will melt...

I have the MINI model and I believe it is 60 amp rated, seems good so far but I’ve only used it starting today. I thought they made an 80amp rated MINI also?

I see on the website that they only make the MINI to 60 amp max, they have the larger white handle adapters up to 80 amps.

I have the mini at 60 Amos and it works great on the passenger side charger (9.7KW if I recall correctly), however it wont work on the driver side charger, the adapter wont latch. I went to the dealer and tried the adapter on other Taycan thinking the issue was the car, but it didn't work latch on any other car on the drivers side. I assume you are using on the passenger side right?

I am using mine on the driver's side charge port. It latched there fine, I have not tried the passenger side charge port yet.

this is an awesome factual 1st hand report - my Taycan works with my shared load Gen2 (100 amp circuit shared) Wall Chargers and now we know it also works with Gen3 chargers.

thank you @rbt3 for sharing your experience.

Do yo have the optional 19.2KW AC charger? Maybe that is the difference...

I don't have the optional 19.2kW onboard charger as it was not available in the US during my 2020 build. I would have ordered it if it was available. I do have the optional 150kW/400 Volt upgrade to give faster charging for any DC 400 V fast chargers, I would have been limited to 50kW speeds at any of those chargers, fortunately there are very few to none of those in the US.

Thanks. I wonder if the latch is slightly different in the 19.2 version. Need to find one without it to test my teslatap. Thanks!

CCS1/2 is a standard. The 19.2kW charger should not matter. It’s likely due to subtle manufacturing tolerances. Tesla has had problem with this too, although not for awhile. With Tesla, more often the plug would get stuck. The service center would grind down the outlet just a bit.
