I also live in the South of England and agree if you want to drive in any conditions when it's cold and wet early morning or there is ice around then proper winters are far better for stopping and grip. But I won't be going out if its icy or snowing 21 inch 305 wide winter tyres are a nightmare to get as well, so would need to spend £5k on 19's or 20's when I would be staying at home anywayI'm in the south of England so definitely not a "snow country" - but will definitely be getting separate winter wheels and tyres. They make a remarkable difference during the winter months in every condition and whenever used as they're simply better suited to the conditions.
I also couldnt bare to slowly glide the 2.3T behemoth into another vehicle, or into a ditch in slow-motion, on summer rubber and unable to do anything
