I'm sure it's crossed your minds when configuring your specs so curious to know what people think.

Base Turbo would mean very basic i.e. no pano roof, upgraded wheels, adaptive cruise, etc.

careful review of base turbo standard features vs. 4S + options - there is some stuff “standard” on the Turbo that is optional on the 4S

that being said - other than acceleration there is no difference and the 4S is plenty fast - better suspension (RWS and sports chrono) will make the car more dynamic vs. a Turbo with out those options.

fully spec’d should be a better driver’s car vs. base anything.

I had the same quandary. In the end I went for a ridiculously specced RWD as its a daily driver and will be living amongst other vehicles. Most importantly for me after living with a fast EV for the past few years I decided performance was the very last thing I required.

I think we've all had that going through our minds.
Speccing the CT I want would be £110K.

A base Turbo would be another £7K

For me what would I get if I got a base Turbo?
1. Extended Leather
2. Matrix LED
3. Extra speed/Power

I am not bothered with Extended Leather or Matrix LED.
The extra speed is very appealing...but do I really need it? I would like it. but would mean I pay £7K more and lose all the other nice things I have specced.

So for me a fully spec'd 4S would be more enjoyable.

Resale value??? I hear many talk about this regarding colour and options... and how to get optimal resale value.

To hell with that... life is too short.
Get what your heart wants. Not what your head tells you.

Because if resale value was soooo important then don;t get a Taycan.

Plenty of much better specced and better value EVs/ cars out there!

Just my thoughts :)

Taycan's are basically all the same – except power train.
i.e., Turbo has extras that you all can option on a 4S, except the extra torque and hp.

So the question is, can you actually use the ridiculous power of a Turbo in your county?

4s is plenty fast. As I would 99.9% use it on regular roads, spec all possible comfort features (burmester, 14way ventilated and massage seats, heat and noise insulated windows etc etc) and left out ptvs, etc. Even with base 19” and no additional performance features (except for the larger battey and more powerful engines) it flies and handles superbly :) absolutely no regrets

As with many here, I'm sure, I considered this exact choice. My decision was to order a 4S with all the goodies I wanted for about $6k less than a base Turbo. If I had equipped a Turbo with the same options as the 4S the difference swelled to almost $30K.

The additional straight line speed that the Turbo offers is nice but the 4S is also satisfyingly quick. In the end there's only so much performance you can typically use on the road without endangering your license and others. My 991.1 GT3 was a seriously fast car but honestly I couldn't even come near it's limits on the street and, wow factor aside, for 95% of on road driving a base Carrera would probably be as much fun.

Bottom line, there's more to getting enjoyment from a vehicle than acceleration so one just has to decide what's most important to them. Just my $0.02.

I have a fully spec'd 2020 4S. Think it was right choice and I am doing regular driving and don't really need the extra HP (can do nothing but get me in trouble).

They called my car the 4S Turbo @ dealer, even had the Sport design package, Mission E wheels, etc. Got almost $35k off sticker and love the deal.

Basically got a good 4S with a bunch of free options when you look @ it.

This was my exactly my thoughts, it was mainly resale that was leading me to the Turbo and the sacrifices I would have to make in spec in addition to the extended delivery time made me just go trigger happy on the 4S.

If I do sell it at the end of my term someone is going to be a happy bunny.

We could use that power yes but probably end up in alot of trouble doing so :lipssealed:

Sounds like what you really want is a GTS... if you can wait that long
