Currenly in a position to move from a 22 Taycan CT to a 23 CT. Spec the car how I want. Main thing driving the idea of the swap is to get the variable light roof.

Lets take value loss from the sale of the current vehicle out of the equation for the moment.

Would you make the swap from your current Taycan to a 23 MY in order to get the variable light roof? Or do you not feel that added bit of tech is enough to get you to switch?

Who will benefit from the roof? I wouldn't even have a pano roof in the states if given the choice because there is little benefit to the people up front.

Does the roof do a cool party trick? Sure does!

How often do you see your self messing with the roof settings?

If not a real benefit to you, but you want to play with the roof a few times, is it really worth it?

The VLC roof is great ….this theory it only benefits the passengers is rubbish ….it brightens up the whole interior with natural light ..yes it’s expensive but so is the whole car 😉

No. In my jurisdiction there’s no tax credit for trade ins. A huge cost to switch for just one year. I have a ‘22 with the glass roof and don’t find the variable roof, while cool, to be like $50k cool.

I might pay for the variable light roof if it dramatically improved performance (and I am not "seeing it").

Isn't that why we covet these cars?

Personally, this would be the very last reason to change. Benefit is marginal at best and would also prove to be a very expensive 'upgrade'.

I have the VLC and absolutely love it. It might be seen as a party trick, but it has its uses also, especially if you have kids in the back, like we do. It just makes the car feel that bit more special.

However, I wouldn't trade in a '22 for a '23 only for the VLC, there would need to be other substantial gains / improvements too in order to justify the cost in trading up. If it was a spec bump and VLC, then that would make more sense, for example.

If it gave the option of becoming a full blackout - it might be more attractive as an option - but going from tinted-clear to translucent does not seem such a major change to me - just 2 different qualities of light transmission - not and on-off - what's the point?

Even if it had a blackout option - it's not worth the hassle of changing the whole car for this one feature IMHO.

VLC roof is great. Not worth it, if you’re on a budget and sacrificing other things you want. I think rear wheel steering is more important for example.

Certainly, not worth changing the car for, unless money’s no object but if that’s the case, have you seen the new all electric Maserati?!!!
