Does anyone use this function successfully in the UK.

I've never bothered to date, but was curious about search options just now, sat in a car park whilst my son's in a birthday party😁

No matter what I plug in to search for, the "G" function always gives "no results".

Had a bit of a search on here and thought it might be the sim, but the car's able to play Internet radio etc OK. So don't think it's that connection...

Is there something else I need to set up?

It only works if you have the 300$ yealy subscription.

I use it succesfully, yes. It has worked on UK trips also.
It finds location based on the name of company/etc that porsche maps doesn't. Like: Google HQ, Lidl, Dior, the mall, Dunkin, etc; which porsche maps just doesn't find unless you give it the street name and number.

Thanks chun.

Just had a bit of a mooch through settings, and in "privacy and Porsche connect", "services with tracking" was inactive. Set it to active, and it works. Set it back inactive and Google searching stops. Back again and it works 🙂

I've never touched this settimg, BUT I did let my Porsche Connect Service lapse for a few days (to see what went missing). I wonder if that setting was deactivated when the service lapsed.

Anyway, working now. Thanks again.

FWIW once in a bored moment I went through all the cookie choices on Google to stop giving them free access to data I didn't think they had any right to.
No Google service worked after that, even the gardener's "terms and conditions" letter which was from google wouldn't open.

I have avoided using Google almost entirely ever since.

Looks like if they can't track you (which isn't necessary for much of what you may want) it doesn't work.

The Google search is useful when you don’t have a postcode or address but want to search for a business or a shop or landmark

I tend to see all the big guns in the same light. Google, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, eBay.

I'm pretty sanguine about it. I'm sure there's a possibility this will bite me in the arse at some point. Maybe when they start selling time between two points data 😁

But mostly I'm not sure what harm it can really do to me as an individual.
