So I am just guessing this car doesn't have any issues with cold temperatures.

I've spent quite a bit of time driving the Taycan in the snow this winter and I have to say the gear whine is actually a pretty cool sound in our cars, although much more subtle than that GT4-e. I drive with PSM off anytime the road is covered so being able to get high motor/wheel speeds at relatively low vehicle speeds brings a whole new set of sounds that you'd never hear in an ICE car. I don't have sport sound either.

Love the GT4-e! ROC is awesome too, those Scandinavians must have an unfair advantage though.

I’m super excited about the eventual GT4/GT4RS versions of the electric Cayman. Hopefully my next car.

the gear whine is quite loud in Taycans, probably due to the 2-gearbox.
I guess one of the reasons they added the Porsche e-Sound to drown that out.

it's hard to find some sexyness in the range between:

I’m definitely not a fan of the spots sound though. BMW i4 had an acceptable artificial noise but always had it switched off. I suspect this will soon disappear from EV’s. Whine from my Taycan is quite loud but I’ve grown to like it.

I've straight cut gears on my motorcycle EV (it's an Energica so it's basically the same bike as E moto GP), the sound fits a high performance vehicule but it's a bit too high pitched for a luxury car

I'm quite fond of the true e-sounds in my Taycan. They tell me what is happening. I don't want artificial noise to drown them out!

The Taycan, and probably most EVs, require a 2 stage reduction gearbox between motor and axle.
In the case of the Taycan there is additionally a 2-ratio gearbox at the rear.
Not sure how much additional noise comes from this but gear noise will be inevitable with 4+ meshes.

I didn’t like the faux sound on demo so didn’t spec it and haven’t missed it on my car. The gear whine isn’t bad IMO.

A straight cut racing gearbox would be noisier than an IC engine :)
