Sorry, I think I asked this or someone did......but where is the best place to grab hard wire power inside the Tay?
None of the 12v accessories outlets stay on when the car off. I was planning to either use a fuse tap for the fuse that controls the 12v outlet in the center console, or to plug the radar detector into the 12v outlet in the center console. I tried to use an OBD II Savvy adapter for my V1, but the car wasn't happy.

Thanks.....lets keep the question alive.
Pretty sure someone will figure a hack eventually.

I live in Virginia where radar detectors are deemed to be illegal. That did not stop me in my GTS which had a hidden system....saved my bacon more than once and paid for itself by avoided ticket costs. Will need to get my hands on the new car in a couple of weeks to decide about system possibilities. As Miwa said, I bet there is 12v available at the mirror.

I've bought a MirrorTap, but haven't installed it yet - not entirely clear how to get the trip piece off without damaging stuff. But the cord is right for the Taycan and should work once I get in there...

Mirror Tap works great, and actually got my radar to work reasonably well in the little cut out on my noise and insulated glass. at the top. Had dealer install when I took delivery. The Black plastic trim pops off easily giving access. Otherwise Radenso/AL priority would be next choice.

I’m pretty sure the rear seat USB-C ports stay alive when the car is off. That’s where my time-lapse DashCam was plugged in for my 11,000 mile trip.

Does anyone have photos of how/where you’re mounting the detector? I’m placing mine to the right of the mirror using the Passport stickycup but really would like something else. I’ve used blendmounts before to hang from the mirror but didn’t really like the look in my old car. Is anyone using one in the Taycan?

I've got it figured out but won't get around to install until I have a viable power plan. I'm an old Val 1 guy w/those mounted similarly in all the cars. It will be a permanent mount, up tight attached to window surround just left of the mirror cluster. The rear receptor just peeks around sun visor when it is down. Remote on the column.

It's a simple cable with a fuse that connects to the power feed to the mirror using pins rather than clamps - basically, they push into the back of a molex connector. So, no damage to anything, etc.

Thank you for that.......and now after a quick search I even know how an auto-dimming mirror works :)

Here’s a thought. I’ve been using Escort Solo radar detector for years.
NO cord. No fuses. No drain on battery. Runs on 2 AA batteries. Small, convenient, move from car to car. Batteries last a lot longer than one might expect. I can use a pair of batteries for about 8 3-hour trips.

from my post in one of the other radar threads:

I finished mine today. I used a mirrortap cable and followed these steps: https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/threads/dash-cams.816/page-2#post-22269

It’s pretty much spot on including the wires that you use for power. Getting the front cover against the window off was very hard and it has two little clips that can easily break so be careful.

The front piece (bigger one that touches the section that houses the front reading lights) needs a little bit of help to unclip by moving it straight forward towards the window. NOT DOWN!! There are basically only two clips keeping it in place together with two guides at the very top. Then you have to unclip the rubber piece once its unclipped. That part makes sense once the clips release.

Other than struggling with the front cover of the mirror it went well. I eventually used a sharp trim piece to unclip it. A friend of mind broke his one clip on his 911, so again, be very careful and dont force it.

I hope this helps.
