Hi everyone,

I am choosing the easy route here by just asking the question instead of digging thru all the threads. Please don't blast me, haha!

Planning to get a preowned certified taycan(feel like a bargain) here is southern california. What do I need to be watching out for? If you were me, which one will you go with given the budget of $70k?

https://finder.porsche.com/us/en-US...7.7901088,50&order=price_asc&int_id=inventory

Your help is very much genuinely appreciated.

We are happy to help, but 50+ is a bit if a task. I would suggest you narrow down to a few by applying more criteria such as model year, trim level, miles, options, and what would be your use case for it.

If you can live without Sport Chrono (which was must-have for me), there's an awful lot to like about the Ice Grey Metallic 2021 4S in Riverside that's more than 50% off sticker. I'd buy that for less than $70K and know that I got an absolute steal.

Save the few extra grand to swap out those lame all-season tires for some proper 21" summer tires.

This is such a personal choice ….. but for me ………

I would start with a minimum spec of a 4S and everything above that, I would limit to under 20,000 miles, expand search to 500 miles, expand price to $85000, then look at the short list at what color combinations and options meet your needs, then negotiate with the dealers on price.

Bear in mind you should make sure that you have enough extended warranty to cover the time you plan to own it …. That should be part of your negotiation

If you ever want feel what’s it’s like to buy a new Porsche this the best way, if you buy a 2023-2024 your warranty goes through 2027-28, the most important things are mileage and options.

We bought a 2021CPO with 30K back in Nov/23 so we got a year of free charging. I would likely choose one of the 2022 models for two reasons. You would get a year left of free charging but more importantly you would have the majority of battery recalls behind you. I would buy the extended warranty for long term peace of mind and I wouldn’t buy anything with more than 35K on it since the prices are too high for the cars you are considering.
Getting a 2022 gets you a very important extra year of battery warranty which you will want unless you plan to get rid of the car before the warranty ends.
My personal favorite is the coffee beige 2022. I was considering a black Taycan RWD but fell in love with the coffee beige which I get compliments on the color just about every time I take it for a drive.

Good suggestion! I don't mind it being a regular Taycan or 4S as long as it has a bigger battery 93kwh. Would you say there is a big difference in getting a 2021 model vs a 2022?

Do you have any experience in negotiating prices with the dealers? Roughly how low can they go? It would nice to where the baseline is :like:

I was thinking on a 2022.
2023 2024 will be out of my budget.
Other than getting an extended warranty, any other things to watch out for?

Hey bud, this is very very informative.

I have a Tesla charger at home and charging at home is my preference. Not sure the free charging is what I am looking for, but good to know they do provide it.

The extended warranty is an extension of the original warranty, correct? How many years they cover?

The coffee beige caught my eyes too, haha. Good taste:like:

This is not correct, bigger battery is optional on Base and 4S, so you have to make sure this option was selected when filtering the list. There is no significant difference between 2021 and 2022 but the additional of Android Auto on 2022. The recommendation is to go for the newest model with fewest miles.

My ask of you, is to filter to a few examples and then comment on options that you have questions about, then we can advise.

I see. I did some filter.

I think this below is pretty good. The least mileage. What do you think? Any tips before buying certified preowned? This would be my first Porsche.

Now we are getting somewhere. This is a good template.

This example has a lot going for it being 2022, PB+ (larger battery), lots of highly desirable options. However, it is missing ACC, so if you are ok getting the car without adaptive cruise, this one is great. The only other desirable option that is not on it is Leather interior, Standard Interior is lots of vinyl. Also, only consider CPO, which I think all on the Porsche site you are filtering from should be.

I am hoping you have driven one or two before you make a leap - but if not you should.

I would definitely drive a RWD base - then compare that to at least a 4S or GTS or Turbo. I had test drives in cars at Palm Springs, Riverside, Ontario, Irvine and Newport Beach when I was looking - I ended up finding that I wanted at least a 4S - a big driving difference to the RWD (which I often get as a loaner and usually am keen to get back to my own car).

I agree with the larger battery point being essential also, for me ACC and ALK are a must, I do not care about the Chrono or the HUD (search the forum for these optional features).

The exterior and interior color combo also matters a lot to me - some cars are just drab color mixes in my mind - but each to their own.

I would ask them for a battery S0H report - tho I am told dealers are reluctant (of 4 that I asked two years ago 3 gave me the SOH read out) - and any recall or warranty work already completed.

For negotiations with a dealer - there is no one answer - what mileage and history, options installed, how long have they had it, how many price reductions (you can usually search that), how much warranty will they throw in, etc. etc.

You can use this link to specify the car you are looking at closer (except the battery size) and see the range of prices - I personally would target an outcome at the bottom end or lower of anything comparable for sale nationally.

good luck - enjoy the hunt and drive some cars befor eyou fall in love ... there is plenty of low cost inventory right now......

I want a colored interior. But the mileage and the price on this is so tempting, haha!
