Yeah, so I’ve seen two manuals now. One says 208 and one doesn’t. I’d probably just call Porsche to confirm.

Yeah...

It should be listed directly on the device when you receive it, so you can always check that as well.

Yep, think I have to wait and see what it comes with.
I guess I can always buy a "wall charger connect" and hard wire it if it's not going to connect. I could slap the muppet that put a 3ph transformer on this street. Such a PITA!

Many thanks for your comments.

This is a question related to the OP's original question regarding a 120/208v circuit which could potentially affect some users. Most homes in NA are 120/240v split/single phase systems. However 120/208v Wye systems can be found in older homes or places such as small commercial buildings or RV parks. I looked at my PMCC and there are no dip switches and it says 120/240 systems. This is probably what most people have. It is attached to the Porsche Wall Connect Box.

Theoretically I could plug this into a Nema 14-50 plug wired to a 120/208 system (I think). So what happens?

I did a quick internet search and a couple of posts came up from Tesla owners who tried this. They reported that the car red lighted and would not charge. Has anyone seen this?

Hi,
Doesnt the manual mean either 120V or between 208-240V? The first version shows 120/240 ie either 120 or 240V, so 120/208-240V should mean either 120 or between 208 and 240. UK supply is 230V usually, not 240 as commonly thought.

BTW, are you sure you are getting the PMCC? Unless you specced it (at a cost of £700) the standard is the PMC+. Photo attached, April delivered 4S. No mention of 208V.

Well yes this is not just related to my original question but is exactly my question! Our grid is the same as NA and most homes are 120/240. Except we are opposite a huge house that has 3 phase 120/208 and we hook up to the same transformer. I have a 14-50 socket with 120/208.

It appears there are at least 2 Porsche Mobile Connect Chargers with the same part number 9Y0.971.675.BL. Manual 9Y0.012.003-ROW says it is "120/240" and manual 9Y0.012.701.A-ROW says it is 120/208-240 V ~, 120 V to ground . The part number of the last manual would suggest it is a newer manual version. Given the charger has an identical part number maybe the newer chargers just have a software update? I have no idea. I guess it depends on your actual physical charger's id/spec plate on the back as to how comfortable you'd be hooking it up. It's possible, despite being an otherwise identical unit that it is now certified for 120/208V but that identical older units will still work. Again, I have no idea.

I should probably get a standard North American 120V pig tail lead in the mean time for emergency poverty rate charging until I get to the bottom of it.

Thanks Mike. Yes it's supposed to be the upgraded "Connect". Due to a shortage of the regular chargers when I ordered last year the PMCC was a free upgrade. Something free from Porsche! I mean we have absolutely no idea if it's going to work but you can't argue with the price!

UK 240 was dropped and the EU 220 raised to converge on 230V years ago. UK is actually 216 to 253V now. Regular domestic US voltage is a single/split phase 120/240. 120/208V refers to the 208V you get from pulling 2 of the 3 phases at 120V each; typically only in commercial settings. 208 isn't an error range it's just a slightly unusual supply for a domestic setting.

When I ordered my 4S the PMCC was a no cost option, however by the time it was built the charger was de-rated to a PMC+, the supply problems having been resolved. Porsche UK reduced the price to compensate for cars built after that date. But Porsche UK still charged the dealer the same price as before for my car (ie the price including the PMCC, before the reduction) as it had been built before the announcement and supplied me with a PMC+! The dealer didn’t think that was fair and discounted me the £770. So it worked out ok for me. I would be interested to see which one you get, and whether their is a price adjustment.
