Personally I thought the standard black plastic looked really cheap and stood out on a white car. Chrome trim isn’t quite as bad but I still prefer the black look. I still moan about having to pay to have my mirror bases painted on a £115k car but I’m glad I did.
Strangely, on other colours like gentian blue or volcano grey the unpainted plastic mirrors look ok as does the chrome trim. Though bear in mind there’s much more unpainted plastic on the 4s (the whole bottom half of the mirror) than there is on the Turbo or Turbo S.
