As much as I adore the excellent drive characteristics of Taycan, I had to sell mine due to the gearbox problem mentioned on here. When the first gear noise came back a short time after drive unit replacement, Porsche essentially told me too bad. I even asked for any type of extended warranty on the drivetrain and they said no.

Drivetrain replacement was ~$40K. My issue is having to pay 100% of that once the vehicle is out of warranty. That coupled with extreme deprecation made me pull the plug.

Yes - you're absolutely right about the attitude. Thanks for the 'recalibration'. This is an amazing car - certainly the best I've ever driven, and driving anything else gives you a great perspective. I look forward the next three years of driving one of the best cars on the road.

Thanks, Derek

I'm just back from having my 2020 T4S in for battery repair for over 4 months(!). However, now that it's back:
--best handling car I've ever owned.
--best performance car also.
--cool looking
--radio is excellent (OK, Burmester)

... but, yes, it is really a problem getting it charged, and the depreciation has been scary. (Almost "monstrous," as you said.)

Honestly this post is on the nose. I moved from a 23 Tesla Model 3P recently to a 23 Taycan 4s BP+
A friend of mine who is a long time Tesla advocate asked me how it was. I told him Tesla in terms of tech is light years ahead. The Porsche handling and driving experience makes you not care about the tech at all.

To your first point, these issues can all be mitigated by leasing and driving within the mileage allotment of the contract. Which is easy to do since the car is in shop so often and we drive loaners.
In almost fours years of driving (2 Taycan's from new), the only money I have spent is on tires, windshield deductibles and 2 year mx.

To your second point, sorry to hear about the T3 being vandalized. I see sunny Cali is treating you like everyone else!(Sorry, could not resist)
The problem is not leasing or milage, It is how many times the car needs to go into the shop for recalls and repairs. Charging port issues, heater issues, rattle issues, battery issues, AC blender valve issues, the list goes on.

2020 4S Sport package. Heater replaced and about to have brake lines recall this week done. Bought ours used with 8k miles.

PRO's: Have 50k now and has been more solid compared to the later year Taycan owners so less shop time for us. Power and handling very close to my previous 991 Turbo S. We love driving our Taycan everywhere. The suspension rides as soft as our old Lexus 570 SUV. Abrupt pothole is harsh, but the rest is like gliding across the road. All Wheel drive makes driving thew car year round in Colorado easy and don't hesitate to take skiing. Definitely low cost of ownership so far and been taking the car further on longer road trips all the time. We plan to try to do a West coast trip south to north in 2025. We even plan to attend the ice HPDE Eiskhana 2024 on Georgetown lake this year. I'm a 6'2" tall and their plenty of room for me.

CON's Bought in 2021 at 110k. Car is worth about 60k now with comparable. Looked at maybe switching to Cayenne e-hybrid, and the depreciation same on them as well and feels like a down grade anyway from a sports car stand point. So at this point, we will continue to enjoy our Taycan and wait to see what Porsche is up too. the only other struggle I have with the vehicle is getting in and out as a bigger 6'2" tall person, the door frame is awkward for me getting in and out of the front and back.

I can't find the link now, but creditable source claiming Porsche leaving EV market and scraping the EV Boxer/Cayman and going back to combustion. Even mention putting a combustion in the Taycan. Another friend say the Euro strain to go EV by next year has been scrapped at legislation.

I think most of my annoyance with the car is vicarious -- sharing the pain experienced by other posters at this website. My own experience has been excellent. I bought my well-optioned, lightly used 2022 CT at 15% off list, so the depreciation hit was tolerable. Other than repairing wheel rash and replacing a bubbly tire (all my fault and covered by my wheel/tire insurance), I have only serviced the car three times in 18 months, and just for one day each time. My friend has a similar experience with her base 4. We have a great dealer, who did the brake line and charging cable recalls on my car last week, kept the car on their lot while I was traveling for the holiday, and drove it back to my house this morning!
