No it’s just a housing that is colored with either Black or Blue but it has zero extra functionality. It’s a silly option on the Taycan since the housing is pretty hidden. In the 911 lights you can really tell the difference with black for example (blue is not available in the 911) per my turbo s versus my buddies GTS.

Thank you for your explanation. Nice cars!!!

Although what you’re paying extra for isn’t the blue tinted plastic, it’s the Matrix technology upgrade vs PDLS+ I believe!
Yes!! It only makes me feel better by thinking it's the Matrix technology upgrade I am getting. Thank you.

You can only see the blue when the light is off. ( I know. What's the point right? ) ?
I don't know about the US but in Europe it is illegal to have any blue lights on a car as those are reserved for emergency services, regardless of intent or design.

Isn't the matrix functionality currently disabled in US market due to regs?
yup and completely unclear if its different form factor inside the housing.

People have cited the fact that it's a different part number, but there is a bios inside the light that stores its operational characteristics. So the part number doesn't confirm anything other than that they operate differently.

If someone ever cracks an EU and an NA version open, we will have the answer.

Not the matrix finction - it would be against your laws (currently) if so as I understand it....

If it works can you please describe what it does and under what conditions?

When I turn on high beams I can tell headlights shut down the cluster of lights…it looks not as bright as b4..( Maybe this is just the auto high beams?)

When the matrix function is enabled, the high beams stay on, and simply "exclude" oncoming cars not to dazzle them. You cannot miss it as it looks super cool :)

PDLS+ (auto high beam assist and beam spread) in action rather than the matrix tech at work given the legal restriction(s).

$850 just for the blue plastic bits....Not sure if I will do it again next time.
You're surprised about this from Porsche? :D
This is the same company that charges $2k for in-cabin ventilation SLATS in leather....

FWIW, I think it looks pretty cool when the lights are off.

You have to option the special high tech glasses (£2900) to get the full blue effect when you look at the car headlights......

The difference in my photo is not a generational thing. Here is a friends 992 turbo without the black option (still has matrix lights although non functional as all us cars) versus mine with the black matrix (also non functional) upgrade.
