It's funny that I see this thread. My wife found this article over the weekend and she was so mad she specifically asked me to post on here in case the article's author was on these forums.
I think the appropriate message is that if you can't charge your EV at home or at work, you might not want an EV right now. It's really as simple as that. If you have charging at home -- L2 especially, but even just L1 -- then an EV's going to be cheaper to operate.
Another message, and this is one that I think isn't emphasized enough, is that EVs are currently tax-favored, and we shouldn't expect that to continue indefinitely. Just as an example, we don't pay the gasoline tax right now. As EV adoption accelerates, we should definitely expect to get something like a mileage tax.
