Hello Everyone,

Has anyone experienced messages in the car saying “key fob battery low, replace battery”. I keep getting this even after having changed the battery for a fresh one? Any ideas - -

The car still functions perfectly fine but I keep a spare watch battery in the car just in case now as I am paranoid it will just die on me.

By the way, I do not keep the key close to the car as I know that can consume power when syncing/connecting etc.

Yep I had this and replaced the battery. To clear the message place the key in the cupholder whilst driving / powered on so that it can re-register itself - may take one or more goes.

Thanks for this and good to know. I assume it’s the cup holder closest to the central compartment as opposed to the one closest to the front screen??

Yes. This is also where the transponder for the key is located (hidden underneath) so if your key should de-register for whatever reason stick it in the same cupholder.

Just been googling this issue. Does this work? Changed battery and can’t clear low battery message. Will give it a go tomorrow. Bizarre if this is required...

Same issue. Eventually it went away after a couple of days. Can't say exactly why.

As per the manual. Transponder is located in the rearmost cupholder.

I was having the same issue. My spare fob wouldn't even open the doors with a fresh battery. I noticed that if I had the battery door open on the spare, and I pushed on the battery with my finger, it was fine. I really thought the contact points (battery to fob) were not tight. I was going to tweak contact points myself with a small screwdriver but figured it was better to let the dealer do so. That's what I did and all has been well for weeks.

Key been in rear most cup holder for past 2 days now and still not gone! Does it genuinely say this in the manual ?
