So it happened - car got keyed!
Any tips on best way/best products to remove the scratch would be appreciated.
I have PPF on front of the car; this is on the rear door driver side - only ceramic coating here, no PPF.
PS: First time I have experienced this - goes to show you how much people 'envy' the Taycan!

It happened to me. Unfortunately, you’ll likely need to repaint - effectively the entire side. Insurance should cover the cost beyond the deductible though you may need to battle them on getting it done right.

Sorry to hear that.

I thought we only had mindless pr1cks in the UK who did that sort of thing, but obviously not.

Good luck with getting it sorted.

I agree with @Swissmister that you probably have to repaint. It looks like it’s isolated to one door, so they should be able to just repaint that one door.

You can have really good results with this if you use a good body shop.

You might want to ask your dealer who they use if you don’t already have a place.

I feel for you - that enormous surge of surprise then disappointment when you saw this. Some people are just assholes.

They’ll likely need to blend the paint backwards to the rear panel and because the rear panel extends into the C column which extends to the A, they’ll need to blend to the front door/front as well. Insurance will want to limit it to that one door, but that may not be the best result.

Stay away from insurance as it will report to Carfax and hurt resale value of the car in the future.

That deep of a scratch and being metallic will require professional paint blending

I'd try a touch up specialist first. The lighter parts of the scratch should buff out, and I've seen some truly amazing jobs done by filling with touch up and buffing down to blend.

It won't be perfect, but a repaint likely won't be either.

Sucks that this happened, I am very sorry. People are awful.

One example of the repair:

Something to consider: if you try the touchup/wet-sand/polish approach and you're not happy, nothing is lost...you can still get a full repaint done.

I have tried to touch up minor scratches myself and they never looked good. It is harder than those sites/videos make you believe.
But I agree with the last few members, you should try find a touchup specialist in some good body shop. They might be able to fix most of the problem for a fraction of the cost and without taking the door apart.
I also never do full repainting at the beginning of the ownership for such a small problem. I wait for more scratches and dents :)

It’s really devastating to see, and you have my sympathy. You can not avoid having to paint this professionally I'm afraid.

Several of my former vehicles have been keyed. After my three last cars was “injured” similar, I invested in quality PPF and have not regret a bit.

I always wondered why someone would do such thing, though, just of envy or hate. It’s only sad.

I'm really sorry to see that, very sad that a few mindless idiots would do this. I'm happy contribute a few quid towards your repair and hopefully our fellow Taycan Forumers are too, so if someone with a bit of computer knowledge can setup an online collection, we can all contribute a small amount and get it repaired professionally with no shortcuts. Anyone able to set up an online collection?
