Appears to be a well designed unit - should work based off specs provided but I guess at this point in time we don't know if Tesla will impose a charging rate limitation for Porsche/other vehicles? If they don't (and I may be reading the spec incorrectly) this unit ought to handle max. charging rates for 800v vehicles like ours.

Forgot to note that Lectron's FAQ section mentions too that this is only for Gen 3 and newer Superchargers (Gens 1 and 2 not accessible) - EDIT - not an issue after a bit of research!

Here's a interesting summary of Supercharger distributions etc in the US:

I’m sure the market will get flooded with these over the next 6 months but here is an adapter that should start shipping in January. Anyone know if this will work to charge our vehicles at Supercharging stations?

physical adapters (like this one) are only 1 part of the solution

the _REAL_ issue is authorization to "start" a charging sessions - that is 100% under Tesla's control - controls which (if any) charging sites/stalls can be "started" via their App.

If Tesla doesn't allow you to start Stall #8 @ Harris Ranch, Ca - being able to physically plug-in does you no good.

Authorization/Access is what is required - the actual hardware adapter was _NEVER_ the issue.

From reading the FAQ on the Lectron website it sounds like Tesla will start to enable charging for companies that opted into the NACS standard in January (seems to be why Lectron chose to start shipping in January). So I guess it MAY be possible that our Porsches will be capable of charging on Tesla's network at that time but then again, probably not since they waited so long to get with the program.

ordered! we'll see how this goes - I doubt it will work because they are pretty clear that is only works with Vendors that have "signed up for Supercharger" access - I'm wondering if it's "active" in some way with a serial number/account setup for supercharter "plug&Charge" support…

I'm curious enough to play with it - no harm if it doesn't work until 2025…this is going to be fun.

I did a little more digging and this map is an amazing resource for identifying v3 superchargers. Set the filter to 250kW and there are a ton of them in the US... https://supercharge.info/map

Really excited to see this adapter, and great that it's being targeted for this year! It's always so frustrating to not being able to charge at a site with 3 - 4 dead non-Tesla stations, while there are 12 Tesla Superchargers right next door.
* - [disclamer] the adapter alone is insufficient to charge at Tesla Superchargers without authorization to start a charging session - this will have to be done via Plug&Charge (for which I doubt there is support/software in place) _OR_ app based activation - currently the _ONLY_ app that can activate a SuperCharging session for non-Tesla's is the Tesla App with a configured account & payment method…

Currently as it stands today the ONLY Sites/Stalls where you could activate a charging session in North America are the MagicDock sites (less then 30 nationwide) - so until further notice this adapter is _NOT_ general purpose…

if/when Tesla expands charge session activation to non-Tesla's this adapter may be useful but for now it most likely will not work because there is no way to activate a charging session at the vast majority of Tesla charging sites…

this will all change and become more clear over the next 6-24 months - but for now this is simply a piece of the puzzle towards what we all know is possible, but a few more pieces need to drop for this to be reality.

that is all.

Any ideas as to what Porsche is “exploring“ over the next 12 months with respect to “adapter solutions” since the adapters can be ordered online by any Taycan owner Today?

I’m hoping that was just confusion by the author of that piece and the reality is just that VAG is just waiting in line for V3 and V4 authorization via the existing Tesla app like all the other latecomers.
