Will try again - I could not spot a way of linking one specific garage door with the memory button, please let me know if there is another step I am missing

Try to test by deleting one garage door from the Homelink setup and see if your memory button setup works just the one garage door. I only have one garage door setup and my memory button (one on the dash) opens and closes the garage door. Then maybe add back the second garage door after you have the memory button programmed and see if it will retain the setting for the 1st garage door.

...My suggestion for all software developers for VAG / Mercedes / BMW: obligatory internship at Tesla. ...
To learn how to introduce new bugs and crippling features with every OTA update?

My MS90D takes almost 10 seconds before I can select drive mode and actually start driving. My Audi A7 takes less than 2 second to start the engine and put it in drive mode. How about your Taycan?

Mine does the same thing. Not every time but often. I don’t recall it doing this early on. Maybe one of the updates isn’t completely perfect. to be clear My Tesla S90d. not the Taycan (not here yet on a ship!).

I guess some things about a Porsche never change! Ive had Porsches most of my adult life and there‘s always been this list from owners about deep love and a bunch of daily annoyances.

With the Comfort Access, I get in and within about 2 seconds I can put it in drive and go. Put it this way, I didn't even think there was a delay until you asked the question. I guess I'm still used to ICE car having to turn a key that my Taycan seems like it's get in the seat and go!

360 for me and the camera is not so good, as others have stated.

You can do a lot of things with the 360 though and that takes some time to get used to. The camera at the rear has a nice feature with a washer also. But the display quality needs improvement to really be useful.
I also have the 360 view, but don’t use it for gauging proximity to the curb while parking. Let’s just say, thank god for the rim and tire package

So Ive had the Taycan for 2 weeks and heres my thoughts so far :

Im starting with the bad because thats whats tempted me to post:

The Bad :

The connect App totally sucks. I cant log in most of the times and the functionality is completely pants. Im missing 20 odd services that the car is capable of because it cant log into my account ( I spent an hour and half at my local OPC and they couldnt get it to work)

The AC isnt particularly effective and the control for the flow direction is just useless. Why the direction needs to be screen controlled is beyond me.

The reversing camera is poor and looks like a picture produced on an early smartphone.

The boot (trunk) closing is hyper sensitive if anything is remotely near it.

It never remembers settings I make like auto regeneration mode always reverts to off etc. ( yes I am logged in to my account on the car)

The panoramic roof is purely for back seat passengers as you dont notice it at all when driving

The Good :

Controling the passenger seat with driver seat controls is genius ( I have a 6 year old daughter and makes adjustments easy when needed without getting out the car) ( and yes shes in a correct child seat and yes shes is allowed to sit in the front seat )

The electronic sound is actually lots of fun

The drive is very very smooth

The delivery of power is exceptional and the car is very rigid and stable

Seats are great

The Screens are really clear and sharp.

Range is good and true

Im sure ive missed stuff but thats a quick precis of two weeks of Taycan in the UK after about 600 miles

I agree with most, especially the Connect App and even the website from my laptop. Very intermittent in its availability. The A/C works fine for me when ECO is off. As for regen, I believe Porsche has opted to default to off as they believe, and I agree, that most Porsche drivers want the feeling of an ICE coasting experience vs. the heavy regen braking you get on a Tesla or other EV. There is a regen button on the left side of the steering wheel for easy on/off and auto functionality. I just wish most manufacturers of ICE vehicles had defaulted off the auto start/stop function instead of always on. I hated having to disable it everytime I got in the car. Similarly, I prefer no regen either in the Taycan.

ahh, there you go . . . I'm sure mine does too. thanks.

edited to ask: so it looks like the rain sensor and the interval function somehow mesh into one? how does this work?
Works perfectly. I just returned from a 2,500 mile road trip with rain on long segments. Rain-sensing wiper function was perfect, even allowing you to set the sensitivity and speed by setting the interval switch.

but what’s rain sensing about it if you have to set the interval? That’s the whole point, it should do that for you.

Not everyone has the same rain-to-wipe tolerance. I hate ever turning on the wipers, because they scratch the windshield and make noise, so if I turn on the sensing I want it to run infrequently. Others may want every drop wiped off right away.

It does. But you basically select from a range of "keep the windshield spotless" to "only wipe when I basically can't see" and the car will choose intervals based on the amount of rain & your preference.

To answer your specific question, the 3 Tesla's I had (P85D, Model 3 RWD and Model 3 performance) had no issues with any of the OTA updates over a combined 5 years of ownership - I am sorry your experience was different. The cars are / were ready to drive as soon as you open the door. Taycan is clearly a step forward compared to my Mercedes as it self-starts by recognizing the key and phone. I would put it on par with Tesla from this perspective, and faster than my Merc - just what you said, you have to start the ICE before you drive....

What I mean with my comment is that features that I found highly convenient in the Tesla are absent in the Taycan - despite the car having the necessary hardware. Biggest ones to me are the not-so-intuitive user interface, lack of phone as key capability, the lack of garage auto-opening / auto-closing, autopark, (aka summon) and geofenced suspension rise (so I do not scrape the front lid whenever I leave the office). Hopefully all will be improving in time, much like Tesla improved theirs. I could not care less about the farting app.... Of course, these may mean nothing to you or other users, I am only expressing my personal wishlist.

On a side note, when I went to the dealership Saturday to have the front license plate mounted, the first thing the local manager asked his Taycan specialist was to make sure the car has OTA capability turned on. Sounded like Porsche is planning to push updates soon.

Are you sure you were paying enough attention? I mean out of nowhere of course I find my telsa junk on this list:

https://www.productsafety.gov.au/recalls/compulsory-takata-airbag-recall/takata-airbag-recalls-list

Apparently, the chemical propellant gets particularly unstable in hot humid climate!
Not quite understanding your point......

First you talk about problems as a user you had with your Tesla and then your bring in a recall as a rebuttal....???? A recall is a recall from that piece manufacturer and usually does not concern the everyday usage of the vehicle but is an underlying problem that has to be taken care of by the manufacturer of the piece via the auto maker...... what does it have to do with that your particular MS had a hard time to wake up?????????

I have had many Teslas through the years and still have two and yes they have their faults and quirks but I have only been in for three non maintenance problems and non for software..... I have had my TTs for a month and there are so many software glitches that I have stopped counting and the dealer and I have convened on that when I go on vacation in a few weeks they will take the car for the duration and try to understand the most glaring ones.....

This does not mean that I do not LOVE my Taycan! I certainly do!, but it has its slew of problems specifically on the software side..... and then some small squeaks and jars from the doors with their quite complex layering.

When you endeavor on a new journey either as a new company or as an old but on a new course, all will have teething problems and hick-ups on the way..... Tesla is certainly not perfect, far from it. But nor is Porsche. So why don’t we get off our high horses and just try to admire these two pioneers within this still budding part of the auto industry, instead of cutting one down in favor of the other. Just my two cents.
