I (like many of you) keep a close eye on my tires and the posts in this forum regarding tires.
My porsche issued Continental Procontact have ~16k miles on them and the fronts were wearing like we all have come to expect. The rears were looking ok with about 3mm of tread left ( fairly even) so my focus was the fronts.
I called my local porsche dealer to order some Michelin PS AS4 to find they couldn't get them from any of their suppliers, which blows my mind considering these are (arguably) the best all season tires you can put on a taycan. Shout out to @jasonh for his write up on this topic and posting on the fact that Michelin doesn't make the 21/305 which is spec for the Taycan but they do make 21/315 and they do fit. Maybe this is why Porsche doesn't supply those tires...
So I took it to discount tire and they could get them in a few days. As the tech was looking at them he noticed the rears were in worse shape than I thought.
Even though i still had decent tread the far inside was compromised.
I always drive with the car in low mode and I drive it like I stole most of the time. So I probably should have seen it coming sooner, which leads to my PSA: Do your tire checks and get dirty doing it. Casual glances are not enough. A blowout on these rims is very expensive, not to mention all of the other nightmares that could occur.
I can't wait to destroy these Michelins
