Metal roof which allows for the roof transport systeem and a normal real sun roof which actually opens. Now that I have the car about 4 months and spring is here that is the thing I notice myself really missi'g the most, a dumb old normal sunroof.

Tesla X has had them since launch. I had a dealer tell my wife that EV’s can’t have heated seats because they used too much electricity.
Yet, I have a 2021 Taycan 4S with heated seats...And Heated steering wheel! I feel like no one at my dealer had a clue about these cars. I know they are new but...

I agree. The overall knowledge base across most dealerships, and not just Porsche, is shockingly bad.
I’ve been told the most ridiculous things by sales reps.

My sales rep introduced me to the handover specialist as “this is Brad, he probably knows more about the car than we do”. I did have to clarify a few points to the guy that walked me through the options. He had all of the main points correct though!

I was told sunroof was a no go due to how much range it robbed

He's talking out of his backside. New Merc EQS EV has them (and proper rear axle steer).
Thats what the sales person said , then why the panamera has it but not taycan ?
I advise you to watch your language by the way, if you dont agree just ignore my message .

So do we think android Auto is coming with the MY22 Builds, which should start later this year, since the MY22 911 is getting it?

I'm also hoping they sort out the wireless charging that seems to be missing from some markets such as Australia and the UK. Could it be a RHD market issue?

We have wireless charging in UK.

Android Auto - anyone’s guess but hopefully.

MY22 builds would be after the German holidays and orders taken from Aug’21 for delivery Oct’21 onwards I think.

Very interesting, I wonder why Australian vehicles don't get wireless charging then!

You asked for a wish list (engage engineer spec writing mode now). This is NOT in priority order:

Porsche sound:
  • It should have several settings:
  • Off
  • Volume control so you can make it louder/quieter stored as user preference.
  • Keep – Original spaceship noise
  • Noise Cancellation (Bose is excellent at this, mine has the Bose radio)
  • Imitate several Porsche gas engine motors
  • Wailing F1 engine
  • Big American V8
“Auto” Drive mode:
  • By measuring the variables it already does today, decide if it should setup car in a dynamic mode. While I am cruising use more “Range” enhancing features. If I really hit the accelerator put everything into Normal or Sport settings (Throttle response, spoiler, chassis height, shock stiffness etc). As I travel faster setup spoiler etc. Have Porsche pro drivers tune the different settings.
  • User preferences: Tied to your key there should be a few more items that are stored.
  • Seat slide to full back position on EXIT
  • User set default drive mode, chassis height, shock settings, recuperation level (Auto!), radio favorites,
  • It should put up a personal greeting “Hi Michael” on powering up
Voice Control:
  • It seems to use British or German voice commands, maybe give a choice. It would be best if you could match American Siri. Example I want to say “Hey Porsche, guide me to Costco…” It wants “Drive me to Costco…”
Cabin air vents
  • Allow user to configure 2 different settings different than the 3 already hard coded ones. For example to have no vents blowing on passenger or all on driver, whatever.
Interior lighting:
  • Make a mode that interior lights follows engine speed, example goes from blue to red as you go faster.
Porsche Connect App:
  • The timers and profile need to be condensed into a single page, I don’t even know what turning multiple ones that conflict on does. This is way to hard to figure out (I’ve been doing automation for 40 years).
  • It should display any errors on charger or when it is plugged into a charger and either the charger or car have an error. Give a history of errors.
  • It should display if the charger is plugged in and waiting for charge, not clear today.
  • Display MPGe (and add another digit of “Avg E-Cons”)
  • Allow user to set how much power to charge to in mileage as well as battery %. I want to set it to charge up to (an estimated) 200 miles for example, not by guessing battery %.
  • Tire pressure should always be displayed, display min and max from last 24 hours. Impossible to tell right now what your “cold tire pressure” is.
  • Preferred charge times need am/pm added for clarity.
  • It should allow setting an amount of time to charge, for example 30 minutes (to use free Electrify America charging, Make sure it is really 29 minutes so no finger pointing. You would think this would already be available under “Timer”, nope that is a confusing way to set up a departure time, which isn’t bad either so keep it.
  • I would like to see the charging algorithm change, right now I guess it computes how long it will take to charge given profile & timer. If it won’t need to charger the whole time allowed it waits instead of starting to charge at user stated profile “preferred time”. If I set preferred charge time at 12:15am, I want it to start then and end early if it can.
  • It should list all places and information about where you charged at public charging stations.
  • Allow phone all functions of key FOB, to lock/unlock, roll windows UP, set parking brake etc.
Innodrive:
  • It is dangerous, slowing rapidly when it doesn’t need to, it should drive “further out”. Use recuperation mode more unless very high closure rate. For example coast when it knows a light or curve is 100 yards ahead. This is a Porsche, it takes curves to slowly (see lawyers). Maybe allow user to pick a “G-loading” turn maximum?
  • It always slows in school zones, you only need to in California “when kids are present”, so example never on weekends etc. There are some roads real drivers don’t even know it is a school zone, because there are never kids or the school is a few blocks over.
  • Allow user to configure number of turn signal blinks when turning. Default now is 3 blinks, way to short for my taste, I want 5 or 6, to give time to drivers behind you before you move over.
Radio:
  • Configure power on volume. Sometimes it gets left really loud or very quiet.
  • On lists it should show what artist and song are playing on all the stations (it did this before software upgrade).
  • When your CarPlay activates it turns off the radio, it should leave radio playing not for user to immediately use CarPlay.
  • If the station you are tuned to is on your favorites list, it should rotate the display so that station is in the middle of your list, not for example have that station not even on the display because it is your 10th favorite on the list.
  • The user configure button (on steering wheel) should allow configuration to cycle through your favorite list. Right now it goes to the next station in the XM lineup for example.
Assist systems:
  • It needs “rear cross traffic alert” assist, when you are backing out it should beep and automatically use brake! This is standard even in cheap cars.
Opening the tailgate and front boot with your foot/hand doesn’t really work well. This should be much easier, used when your hands are full.

Porsche door “puddle” lights are way too dim.
  • The dash “power” display should have two power bands, one for each motor in the single display. Make the larger motor band wider. This should also show that regenerative braking is much more the front motor and strong acceleration is much more the rear motor.
  • Dash display number 3 (right most) should allow Forward-rear G-force on the same linear display, 0G is in the middle of the bar. Same for left/right. Also store maximum g-forces and be able to replay the last 30 minutes or something like that. Right now the display changes to fast, you have to look while you are doing some maneuver and you are interested in g-force. Mimic ski area displays that can replay your whole day of driving on a map, showing G-forces and speed. This of course is a new display and could be handled by an iPhone app instead of the car. (see Mammoth ski are App using “Track” function and display. Or see “RaceHero” app. Record the information from the cameras and sensors, even can use a user supplied USB drive.
  • There should be a user preference for “larger” icons for the small ones (like the lights or car height icon).
  • Why doesn’t “normal” driving mode use the spoiler at all??? Also probably good in snow/ice areas give the user ability to manually disable the spoiler.
  • The armrest under right arm is very hard to open, it needs to open wider, and stay open by itself! Poor mechanical design.
  • Why doesn’t the car allow attach to my local WiFi? Much faster than phone link for downloads etc.
  • The accelerator pedal should allow user configuration, like non-linear power delivery, or just a simple “high-medium-low” curve. Some people want a faster tip in, some slower more elegant throttle response.
  • Automatic charge port doors, auto close time needs to be much longer. No reason not to. The car should be able to auto close them the second you put the car in gear.

BTW, without a fine tooth comb review, I believe ALL of these are software and can be downloaded into ALL Taycans, 2020 etc.

I have ordered a 2022 Turbo S with a January build
Did your dealer already receive an allocation for a 2022? Or are you "in line" for a 2022 allocation? Seems early for allocations... I've been looking for a Turbo S allocation (any - 2021 or 2022) since January.

Great list, Michael. Thanks for playing.

Did your dealer already receive an allocation for a 2022? Or are you "in line" for a 2022 allocation? Seems early for allocations... I've been looking for a Turbo S allocation (any - 2021 or 2022) since January.
In the UK each dealer is allocated a number of build slots, with Porsche Cambridge having a few free for a Turbo S. I specified that I just need it prior to April 2022 (tax year), which they had no issue with, but I then changed my mind and decided may as well aim to get it this year. Porsche Cambridge were very accurate with estimates for my Turbo, prior to ordering it, so I’m keeping the faith this will all come together as expected.

So in short, they have placed the order and awaiting the exact allocation; if they are allocated one prior to MY2022, they’ll simply change the order to a later allocation.
