How much do you think the change is due to:

1. Using more of the battery based on experience of the 2020 and more testing?
2. Some more efficiency?
3. Adjusting their test results?

MY2020, 20” Pirelli P Zero Winter Elect.
Charged the night before to 100% to test coldish temp range.
Garage temp 11 C shows 314 miles.
In the morning with no preheat garage temp 8C shows 338 miles battery temp 10C.
Drove 37.6 miles 30 which were freeway miles, used 12% battery, 270 miles remaining avg speed 57 mph, normal mode and the occasional use of sport+, 5 or 6 times for fun and too pass. OAT 2.0C.
Eco set at 20.0C with two white bars on fan speed. Heated seat initially on for 5 minutes. Short sleeve shirt very comfortable. No misting of windscreen.
Same mileage, speeds etc on the return leg home.
Bottom line mileage closer to the 314 miles projected the night of charging.
Quite happy with the range I am getting.

Last dealership update I had was in October. If I recall correctly it was the big update from August. Not certain what was included.

Your drive through the NC mountains showed great numbers!
If you passed through or around Asheville I am certain you had some beautiful scenery.

That is an amazing range - you must drive very very nicely... the best I have seen is 240 mile, but also only approx 500 miles on the clock by now (got it last week)

do Your range improve over time, or was it this good from day one?

Given that 2020 test results were far too conservative I’m sure Porsche tweaked the software to allow the EPA numbers to better match the real world range. Given Dieselgate there was surely a desire to ensure that the first year real world range numbers were WELL within the variance from test results. Any “efficiency” for 2021 is likely just a tweak of their testing approach in just the same way Teslas test far better than they perform.

I purchased the car with 800 miles on it from my local Porsche dealer. Only have had it two months now. Got a great deal.
Do not know how the first charges and miles on the car were. I usually see 269 to 280 miles at 85% charge depending on the OAT. 0 to -5 C is where I saw the 269.

I know someone posted on this forum that they saw an increase as they drove more.

Congratulations on your new vehicle. They are fun! (god fornojelse)
If I spelled it correctly. Do not have the minuscule on my keyboard for the second o.

Thanks mate - I agree, the car is amazing, and what a great joy to drive..

your spelling is good ;-)

I think you range is very good - I right now have 166 miles of range at 73% SoC - car is sitting in garage at 17 degrees Celsius.. I also have the 4S with big battery...

what is your average consumption long time now? i guess this must be way lower than mine - and also, what is your driving style and is it highway speeds mostly (80-90 mph or more)

and also maybe more interesting, how is the humidity were you live - here it’s damp and wet, and sometimes humidity is 90%, so the Taycan really have to push through a lot of heavy air - maybe you have a dry cold climate?? That would explain a lot I guess..

Mostly freeway and some twisty mountain roads. Speeds, I will only admit to driving the speed limit of 70 mph. I may have exceeded this speed on occasion.

Drive in normal and sport and sport+. Rarely range mode.

-5 C and 77% humidity tonight. Humidity not usually this high so may impact the performance. Snow the past couple of days.

Not an expert here, but from what I’ve read the EPA has several testing protocols. Frequently used are a 2 cycle and a 5 cycle test. If a manufacturer chooses the simplified 2 cycle the EPA takes the number the car achieves and derates it to 70%. I believe Porsche chose the 2 cycle test for the Taycan. So, take those numbers and add 30% and that’s what the car tested at in the 2-cycle. As far as I know Tesla tends to use the 5-cycle approach where no derating factor is used. I also think I read somewhere the EPA recently modified the derating factor to 80%.
