Huh? Looks pretty awesome to me.
Functional, but overwrought, just like this $80 corkscrew:

Not saying I wouldn't charge there, but is a vanity project really what we need? A paltry six chargers in another walled garden?

The only thing I found innovative was the built in waiting loop to prevent queue jumping. Except they could have installed another bank of six load shared chargers in the same footprint.

^ Exactly my thoughts! (Although I didn't know about the corkscrew -- is that real?)

For CCS1 DCFC, we're always hearing about ... even faster speeds ... nice amenities ... plug & charge, etc.
How about just a location with at least six chargers actually running at a min of 150kW?
The number of such locations from DC up through NYC and then further north up through I-87, I-91, I-93, and I-95 is ... low.

Yes it is! I own one (along with the center locking stopper). They both support my other hobby. I can only guess what it says about me to get such gifts. :D

There is a lot of emphasis on safety/security. I think Porsche are ahead of the game here. For example I don't fancy my wife or daughter waiting on their own in the middle of night while their cars charge. I think this will very attractive for option for a lot of people.

I find joy in the reasonable expectation that a reasonably fast charger will be available within a reasonable waiting time.
Which is exactly what this new station prototype delivers.

- All units capable of full speed, at the same time
- No access to Bolt, Mach-E or other "charger-blocking" vehicles

Plus things we would all like at our charger sites:

- Clean restrooms
- Snacks/amenities
- Shelter
- Trash receptacles

^ All of that sounds good to me. Although I’m happy to settle for just the basics.

The other point about security is a good reminder that not every EV driver suffers from YMIS (Young Male Immortality Syndrome, which can persist into old age).

My first CCS1 DCFC session was at a single charger at the dark end of an empty parking lot at a closed gas station late at night on the outskirts of a rural town in far northern New England.
I amused myself by doing work on my laptop and pondering whether the seemingly abandoned car nearby might have a dead body in the trunk.
Had anything happened to me, my body would not have been found until another driver eventually pulled up to the charger.
But my YMIS made me regard this possibility as merely entertaining.

Have the cork screw too but TBH, my basic one performs way the heck better ….. then again, maybe if I used Porsche’s version I’d drink less wine - is there method here ? :)!!

When I first move to philly a decade ago for work, I walked home from a work event at 10PM at night, with my headphones on, through the kensington open air drug market (it is pretty famous, you can watch videos of it on youtube of meth zombies). the next day my coworkers were shocked I was still alive lol

^ Glad you survived!

Just to clarify though, my personal YMIS does not apply to urban settings. I’m scared just reading your account!
