New Taycan Turbo S Owner - no wifi in garage!

Hello, I picked up a 2020 Taycan Turbo S today and I absolutely love it!! One challenge is in my house we have a detached garage and unfortunately no Wi-Fi whatsoever in the garages.

When it comes to the updates and things of that nature what can I do to take care of this?

at the moment the North American Taycan do not need/use WiFi - all data comes across the vehicle’s built-in celluar data connection.

the car will fetch updates and such when it has access to the celluar wireless networking - there is virtually nothing existing Taycan customers can do to direct the vehicle to use any particluar network or data connectivity - it’s all “automatic”

the car does offer it’s own wifi hotspot - but so far in North America this wifi hotspot does _NOT_ offer internet access to anything connecting to it - so it’s a bit of a useless feature at the moment.

the short answer is for the time being don’t worry about it - the car will use porsche’s provided cellular data network until further notice.

Get one of these, attach it to the outside of your house on the side which is facing your garage. Most EV chargers connect to wifi.
