Juist watched this and I still find myself disappointed at the information given by reviewers on electric cars in general. I have no problem quoting WLTP, but put it into some context and also: if you are going to say what efficiency you got, then you should be stating what kind of driving you have done, how much and in exactly what conditions. Yes he talks about motorway driving, but pretty much no more details.

The charging piece was also terrible. The car wasn't set up correctly (by someone else), had probably cooled down by the time he eventually got it charging. He then quotes the 15ºC times for the new car: 18 minutes, comparing it to the 37 minutes with the old car....but again no discussion about pre-heating or even how hot a battery is when you are actively using the old car in the real world and then need to charge. I get they have only so much time to get information across, but it's all very loose.

On the plus side: it looks like the new car is decent and in reality, a lot of small improvements over the gen 1 rather than a huge leap. Well, apart from looks - in my opinion!

I also should never read the comments under these video's! 🤦😂

At least Thomas at Autogegefuhl gives more information

I'd be really keen to see some real range reviews of the new 4S models.

I was going to order one of those, but I couldn't find an allocation before July/August, and for tax reasons, I needed to have the car registered in May, so I took the current "deals" on a Sport Turismo 4s in stock, which I got from £115k to £90k. Now I am really hoping I won't regret it. 😅

I wonder if they will still have original batteries or the higher capacity one if u need to replace gen one after 5 years.

Would be pretty awesome if they could at least bring the new battery in. However, it would mean that they would require multiple software versions to be maintained at the same time.

Cheaper than buying back our Taycan or finding supplier to provide the old batteries. They might even sell the new one as an upgrade to existing owner a few years down the line.

The only way this would happen is if they already tested a Frankenstein build with a mix of old and new parts during the development of the new Taycan. It would have to be subjected to the same heat soak, cold weather, endurance, vibration and safety testing to validate that it actually works. I have experience in validation testing and it’s expensive.

Why would you?

If the car does what you need, it does what you need. And you saved 25k.

If it doesn't do what you need, don't waste 90k 🙂

We just used out GTS for a journey we never intended using it for (a 350 mile trip to Cornwall).

It's worked brilliantly. Would an extra 50 miles of real world range be better? Yes, in all honesty... But it would have saved me perhaps 15mins on a 6hr+ journey.

Most "range" challenges are psychological only.

Porsche Taycan NEW Updated 2025 Taycan Reviews Are Here! 1712225540034-nh

What's going on at 3:19 in the last video? Since when can you jam in a CCS connector without manually opening the DC cover? It just magically opens in the last second.

Has that always been a thing that I'm just now realising?

That must be new, and doesn't look like the video was altered.
For sure that was edited. In the first part they forgot to open the cover. In the 2nd part (after the edit I am claiming happened) the door is magically opened. It’s an easy edit because the camera was on a tripod so it’s in the exact same location.

You may be right, but I downloaded and examined it at 10% speed, the other thing is what would be the motivation for making an edit like that.

I can't speak to the motivation but I personally edit multiple videos every week. My primary goal is to make the videos look good and smooth. Accuracy of what the video is depicting is a secondary consideration.
