Almost forgot I had ordered my Tincan Hatchback as my me-2-me birthday present - then came a confusing call from my dealer out of the blue after 6 months to say it had landed in Norway, and would I come and collect it before someone else did.
Tickled pink with it from the first moment and I relieved that I had seemingly picked all the right visual options - unveiled in the VIP section of the showroom - made even new 911s and Panameras look dated.
Clever dealer had anticipated that fitting my additional Winter wheels’n tyres would be a wise move before I arrived (blizzard had moved in) and stuck the Vesuvius lacquered Turbos in plastic bags - still with genuine delivery grime unfortunately.
Had to revise my mode of entry from the default clamber up into my Range Rover Sport chase car…… knee took a few corrective bashings on that superfluous jut of dashboard on the lhs of steering wheel - now perfected via an assfirst technique of just collapsing in.
Needing to distract attention away from a road full of oncoming 60 tonne trucks to locate featureless smooth switches on a featureless smooth screen - rather than an intuative fumble with touch-familiar knobs and levers - has sacrificed basic survival instincts at the alter of a screen too far.
I now resort to keeping a simple-to-operate cloth at hand to recover forward visibility. I refuse to breath in the carcogenic diesel particles from passing trucks
An Alarm goes off hourly on the hour with flashes and siren - unless I remember to hit the lock option on the keyring twice, or a mysterious flirting Q & A session about whether or not I wish to keep a third party guest active in our relationship - preceeds my every departure from her.
Must read the handbook again……
Have modified a plastic ALDI bag to stuff over the power kabel door like a little umbrella to shield the charging plug from rain and melting snow. Come on Porsche - your thoughtful little drainage hole just freezes over further down - 415V 3phase in it’s own little puddle are not a wise combination.
Wiping the reversing kamera lens before unlocking has become a refleks action (maybe channeling the interior condensation out over the lens would be a viable fix ! ?)
Otherwise - a delight to drive, own and annoy Teslas owners with ….. can’t wait until Spring to unleash the beast’s many launch horses.
