Hi,

My car is unable to connect to Porsche since August 27th.
Last update to Porsche Connect was around 1:00 AM at that date.

Today I found out that the car is unable to make a data connection, I can't listen to internet radio, no google traffic is updated, no online destinations available and so on. Car is telling me: no data connection available. No LTE picture visible either in my screen.

Porsche Taycan No data connection - anyone else having the same issue currently? IMG_20200901_145243

Am I right that there should be a LTE picture?

I called the dealer, they tell me that there is a global issue but I can't find anything recent on this forum, I would expect that others have reported it already here?
Anyone else having this issue?

Cheers

Hi, my dealer is taking the car to the shop next Monday, they tried several things remotely but none worked. We did a hard reset and soft reset, factory default of pcm but no result.

It seems that the car lost its lte module, car is unable to make a connection.
Due to result of the factory default the car is unable to finish the first time wizard which results in seat settings which are not able to write to the car. No data connection, no Google maps, no traffic, no digital radio etc

Do you see the lte picture in your pcm? Does this sounds familiar to your problem?
Please keep me updated on yours

This sounds very similar to my issue. I have the same icon with the slash through the connection. There is no connectivity as a result- I cannot use Apple Music in the car, and none of the traffic data that I used to receive on my maps is displayed any more. I cannot connect with my vehicle with Porsche Connect anymore.

I went to my dealership and showed this to them today. Their product ‘expert’ was puzzled and took a number of photos, and said that they would need to take the car in to get it resolved.

Ok yeah, seems to be the same issue...
Wondering what they can do about it, I'm thinking about a hardware failure.
Lets keep in contact about the progress, my car is going to the dealer tomorrow morning, they expect to hand it back on Wednesday.

I would be interested to hear their diagnosis. I’m expecting to confirm a date for my car to go in for repair tomorrow- hopefully later in the week

I had the same issue a few weeks ago. Long story short: Porsche Centre Amsterdam replaced a faulty control unit (regelapparaat) and quote/ unquote: ‘resetted the Com box behind the replaced unit’. Works fine ever since.

Thanks for informing me about the procedure, good to hear that I'm not alone in this issue. I will inform my dealer about the possible root cause. Thanks!

Update:
Dealer did a reseat of the COM box, they had to wait one day before the module came back online and it seemed to work, connectivity is restored.
Lets hope that it keeps working, will update you whenever things change.

only 6 days later, having the same issue....
informed the dealer about it, waiting for their next action on it.

@Tayzilla what about yours? is it still working after replacing that module?

@zeebee2 how about your car? did the dealer manage to fix it?

Still works fine for me. Perhaps the unit itself has to be replaced like they did with mine.

I'm trying to convince them to replace it but they're conservative in it
Interesting...At Porsche Amsterdam they were the ones who were insisting to replace the unit whereas I was conservative as I was not convinced that that was the cause of the problem. I thought it had to be a software issue and not a hardware failure, the car was just 3 days on the road, so pretty new. Nevertheless the replacement unit got shipped from Germany and it works. So far the dealer was right in their approach.

Thank you for all the useful hints as my car lost connection, similar to everyone on thread. This resulted in Bluetooth being inoperable, not being able to log in my Porsche ID as I deleted acct to try to troubleshoot myself. Well this just made matters worst and the PCM support and dealership has been of no help

Once I’m able to get vehicle in for service, I will make the suggestion of module/Comm replacement

Thank u all, again

So here's an update on my situation. Brief history. Oct 11 my 12V battery died. Since then I have been unable to log into the car with my Porsche ID and the car has not updated any status on the Porsche servers. The Taycan specialist at my dealer pulled the OTA Communications Module (or OTA Control Module) and found it had latched itself in a state similar to the state prior to customer delivery, however it could not get out of this state so he replaced it. After replacement, I am able to log in to the car with my Porsche ID but I still have problems with my Porsche ID (can't complete the checkout process so can't accept terms and conditions so none of the Connect services in the car work). Anyway, for those of you with both of these symptoms (no update of data to Porsche servers, can't log in with known good Porsche ID), ask your dealer to check out if the OTA Communications Module (OTA Control Module) is good or latched into a bad state similar to pre-delivery.
