That's right. You want to be sure and get the 400V/150kW option. EA chargers all over California, USA have those 150kW chargers. Drive up, plug in, press continue and get about 130kW of charge (if your batteries are warmed up over 83F). If you don't get that option you can search for the 800V/350kW chargers - far and few - or just be stuck in the 40kW range super-slow charging. When my batteries are in the 50F range, I get that 46kW charging and it pisses me off!
I thought that even the 150kW EA stations are still 800V? In that case the DC onboard option is still not needed.

You are correct. You don't need the 400V/150kW option to get 150kW at the EA 150kW stations. I got 175kW at the EA 150kW station in Clarion, PA last weekend.

You are right. EA uses 800V DC, not surprising as EA is a subsidiary of VW group and the Taycan is natively 800V.

I have seen a few 400V DC chargers (in Canada) but they were all limited to 50Kw anyway. Maybe Tesla will open their superchargers soon but I'm not holding my breath.

Have you checked the standard equipment list? May already be included as a standard option.

I believe it is included in the Germany standard equipment while I went to check out the newly announced STs in different level.

Forgive my error. EA stations actually supply a range from 150VDC to 920VDC.

Bumping an old thread because it’s important that people buying Taycans in the US understand this.

By far the majority of EV charging stations in the US are Tesla superchargers. They are all 480v. When Tesla completes there plan to open the stations to all EVs, Taycans without this option will only be able to charge at 50kW. I have selected this option on my order.
I ordered mine with it as well. Most Tesla chargers are open now.

Ah, those are just comments by the company that they plan to do those things. They've also been planning to release full self driving for eight years now too...
