Original Porsche Dashcam

Hi just got original Porsche dashcam, next week will go to install it. Next week. Anyone already owned it?
I have not found on the forum any experience bout that.

Hi,
i own it. I let the dashcam installation at the Porsche dealer.
there are some points off improvemen. For example the connection.
but when it works it’s oké. Buy one additional mini SD card

Ok got it. Do you experienced extra consumption of the battery ? With my old 2 Teslas there was with sentry mode on.

I have it also. The front + rear version. A bit annoying to connect to: when the car is on it will connect to the car and not the camera wifi (since it has no internet). I had to change wifi settings (in the phone) so the connection does not jump back to car.
When you download video's and have a double camera it is still a single file with 2 streams in it. I view them with VLC. 1 stream is front second stream is rear.
Buy a 256Gb sd card to replace the standard 32Gb one, way too small. I got a Sandisk high endurance one. It should last longer since it's designed to use with a dashcam. You have to reformat it in the dashcam before it wants to use it.
The Porsche dashcam app also upgrades the firmware if available.
I also disabled the speed reading in the video, don't want to incriminate myself too much

Thanks for the comprehensive infos. Do ya envisage any extra battery consumption in using it ? I mean with my last 2 Teslas sentry mode on drains battery 1-2% a day

I had a model S100D before the taycan. As you said the drain when Sentry is active is large, very large. On the Taycan I have both camera's in Parking mode (so they detect shocks). Drain for the camera's per day: less than 1% and closer to 0 than 1%

I had this (front and back) in my previous Taycan. Works great if you are OK with the fact you have to some manual work to get the video of the camera. Picture quality is good, but they should do an upgrade for better nighttime performance.

Thanks for the update. Agree I have it on since last week. It is not the best of comfort to deactivate CarPlay tether mobile with dash cam, download. Then untether dash can reactivate CarPlay each time.
