Does anyone know if the Taycan will get its updates OTA or if everytime there is an update, you will have to return back to the dealer in the traditional automotive way? I asked my Porsche dealer and they said it would "eventually be OTA like Tesla" - but I was not convinced they really knew if that would happen - in the same way they did not realise wireless mobile charging appears to have been omitted in the UK! Does anyone know/have more definitive information on this?

No definitive information as far as I know. At my last trip to the dealer the manager had his Taycan specialist make sure OTA is enabled in my car - Porsche has notified them of future OTA. Future is a very relative term, but it sounded they are getting ready for it which brings me hope. Considering the dealer update will not be free to Porsche (I imagine the dealer makes a little money on that) it is in Porsche's interest to do OTA.

I expect to return to dealer. I also expect very infrequent non-nav-type updates. If more than 1 a year, I'd be surprised.

Agree there will not be a lot of frequent updates. However, some faults must be corrected quicker than others (louv's repeatedly dead 12V battery, the stuck charging cable reports) so perhaps they will parse the work into smaller updates - and suspect some of these will be OTA.

Of course, my 2018 model Merc E Coupe was touted as one of the first vehicle-to-vehicle capable cars, and OTA updates were planned. 3 years later I had no updates, and if the car talked to its friends, it surely kept me out of the loop;). Will see what Porsche does.

There's no such thing as a "small" update. If they change any firmware, then everything has to be tested. Regular car companies don't beta test on customers and ship minimally tested stuff.

Like for instance the connectivity to the regular car company server or the difficulties enabling the ID or not being able to release the charging cable. Wait now, where did I hear about those...? I still love my 4S, beta testing and all

Have you seen the word "beta" anywhere in your Taycan?

Other than the sticker I put on it, no.
"The Go pedal, Stop pedal, and steering all work great. What more do you want?"
