To be clear does sport plus preheat without trip planner?
Yes, sport+ preheats independent of routing. It's preheats to give optimal battery performance for "spirited driving". ;-)

Here is a snapshot fyi for drive mode settings from Good to Know app. But doesn't talk about preheat. I got that from a Porsche contact.

Well here is my current estimate (which would be around 260 at 100%) in normal driving, ambient temp is 50 high here.

Isn’t it bad for the battery to charge it to 100%?

they suggest for longevity to charge to 85 but if you need the range you can. It’s not an issue, more long term care.

When you have a long journey to do charge to 100. Schedule it to finish charging so you leave around that time. Best not to fully charge the battery everyday. 85% max for daily low distance commutes. That’s my plan.

Just FYI, 100%/53% * 129 miles = 243.4 miles, not about 260. Thus we are in the +20% over EPA ballpark, which is still quite good.

Cheers,
Henrik

Thanks you are correct, my estimate came from actual driven miles against SOC percent (which was higher than what the GOM was showing). But your point is very valid.

If you plan to keep the car for 10 years and longer and need all the range by then, you should take care, otherwise not so relevant. They included a large buffer in the car.

A german test where they drove a Model 3 RWD LR and Taycan Turbo with max speed of 150 kmh and reached over 3 “laps” on the Autobahn surrounding Leipzig an average of ca 131 kmh. Take note that the Model 3 has a smaller capacity battery than the Taycan - But Taycan performing quite well here..

yep and more narrow which is god for aerodynamic resistance. Moreover the teste model 3 was with a 4 cm lowered suspension giving it around 7% lower consumption at these speeds according to the video.. seems the Taycan delivers after all ;)

We were lucky enough to do the Taycan experience last week in Atlanta courtesy of my fabulous dealer. We spent two hours with the product folks and driving around the track. In regards to the rear steering they said it cuts three feet off the turn.
