7 digits is correct - there is a web site to check software updates which has the same quirk.I am in the UK and was unable to get any support from Porsche UK to reset the pin on my charger.
I then contacted the manufacturer, again no help.
I took the charger into my local dealer, they plugged it in to something they have and reset the pin for me at no charge - wish I knew they could perform a pin reset from the start.
One interesting thing I did find was that the serial number on the charger was showing more zeroes at the start of the number than the Porsche system could accept, as the actual serial number Porsche required was a 7 digit number, not the 10 digit number shown on the charger.
Did you not get the white envelope with your PMCC (for clarity it is not a charger (this is always integrated in the car) but an EVSE (Electric Vehicle Structured Equipment) which simply supplies safe power to your car and the car then does the rest as this will have various pass codes and the PUK (unlocking code) in it?
