Finally received the bike rack.
I’m the first customer to receive it at my dealer so I took a lot of pictures and installed it again at home to be sure everything is ok before the holidays and to show you guys.
Rare in Belgium and in Europe, so I’m very lucky and happy.
The racks are still planned to arrive at the end of the third trimester 2022.
This is what you receive in a box on a europallet:
It fits in the boot no problem once folded
You have to remove the cache with the given tool
The left side has the plug
it’s the new type of plug in Europe
you have to put the bars in the holes and turn them
Same on the other side
You now have to put the rack on the holes but once you know what to do it’s easy. You should start with the rack in vertical
Flip it horizontally hard enough and it clicks into place and is locked
plug and twist the ring
Unfold the rest and it is nearly ready
There is a key for the plate holder
Same key to use for the bike holder otherwise you can’t move it
Ther is more rubber and protection than on the Thule I was using previously
You can fold it to open the boot
And if it’s plugged the boot doesn’t open if you press on your key but only if you press on the button of the boot
it’s really planned to have heavy electric bikes on it. There are small jacks to help you lifting the rack
I had to try it with an old bike first
It’s as easy as it was with the Thule
The boot is easily rechargeable as i’m used to with the previous racks
My driveway is quite steep so I had to try
I don’t know the angle but the Macan with the Thule bike rack was slightly touching here.
I’m on lift mode and it passes easily
The reverse camera is still working but not the sensors and it doesn’t beep all the time which is good.
The view is difficult but you can approach a car without touching it
I knew I was close
Like others said in the forum, once you get used to it, it can be placed and removed 5 min and is not taking much place and is around the same weight as the Thule.
Very happy I got it.
I will test next month how much range we’ll loose driving very fast to south of France as I just did the trip so I have a reference.
