I purchased my Taycan 4 weeks ago and cannot get the Connect Application on my iPhone to work. This is what Porsche sent me, Is this correct we have to pay for the application to work on a new car? Dealer clueless as is Porsche customer support. Customer support informs me they show the Connect service application in "process" but Porsche NA says I have to pay a fee but there is no listing or even a way to pay a fee even if I wanted to.

Thank you for the patience you have shown during this time. Per the our specialist's investigations, it was concluded that your services have not been purchased. Connect Services will not be available until the purchases of those features have been made. I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you, and hope you have a wonderful day.

After giving up with Porsche customer support and Connect support I used my PR skills to send an email to top execs at Porsche and their PR executives. I advised them of the issues on 10/10/20, I explained how terrible the support was and how no one at Porsche support understands the Connect Application. I advised them I was going to utilize my PR skills to notify thru bloggers and news outlets how poor the support and training is at Porsche. On 10/12/20 Porsche fixed all my Connect issues!

He is wrong. Three years of Porsche Connect is included with the purchase of the car. That is disappointing you got that response.

One of the many reasons the Porsche Connect App is one of the lowest rated apps on the entire app store. I've been having all sorts of connection problems. If you were not forced to use it, no one would have it. Just barely over one star. Really inexcusable.

@Scotty When I got my car I did have to “purchase” those services through the Porsche connect store, but they were free for three years on checkout. After “purchasing” them a bunch of Connect services finally activated for me. Before “purchasing” them most of the remote services were not working. It’s an actual step I had to take. The dealership did not inform me about that step, I just stumbled into it.

I "purchased" mine, climate stopped working. Porsche connect support says they are "not available for your 4S" because I did not purchase the security. The guy is completely clueless. All things are active in my Porsche account via computer. Incidentally, cannot connect from the computer either.

Honestly I hadn’t messed with climate control until you mentioned it. I tried it and it doesn’t currently work for me. I received some kind of error message. Maybe I too need the security package! :CWL: When we bought our e-Tron remote climate control was a mess early on but it was eventually improved.

I checked some more today - after I upgraded to the newest version of the Porsche Connect App. As soon as I unlock the door and the car wakes up, the phone can connect to the car via the Porsche server. As soon as the car goes to sleep, the server can no longer reach the car - even if the SIM card seems to have good reception in the garage.

Am I missing something? Seeing that we will have 40s in daytime and 30s at night next week, I'd like to solve this. Was anyone successful wit resetting the PCM profile? It will be a pain to re-register and program the HomeLink but would go through it if someone had success with it.

Sorry, mine has been working consistently since the initial error with my profile. My recommendation since you’re in MN as well is to reach out to Dexter Summers at Minneapolis Porsche. He’s the guy most of the SAs & techs go to when there’s a question on Connect or other tech. He’s been really solid and helpful for me.

Thank you - will contact him. Seems like the car has gone into a state where it does not connect to the Porsche server when off. Might as well enjoy the autumn colors - and I'll take any excuse for a road trip :).

How to resolve connect problems. Here is how i got it to work
1: do not waste your time calling Porsche customer support or connect support. I spent hours talking to them
2. I sent emails to all the top executives of Porsche and their public relations department on Saturday 10/10/20 explaining the terrible support Porsche provides and said since i am a PR exec with very large PR firm i intended to use my skills to inform potential customers of the lack of training and support provide by Porsche
3. when i went to my car today and tried the application again IT WORKS PERFECTLY. Porsche fixed the problem at their end by Fixing the Activation in Progress issues with their server

Thanks - I tried, the car cannot be reached through the app or through the site.

@svp6 Have you ever been able to connect to the car from the app in general? For instance, can you change to direct charging from the app and have that actually change in the car? I was finally able to remote start my climate system this morning, but I feel it’s been hit or miss lately. I’m just curious if your issue is climate specific or if it’s a connection to the car in general. As a fellow Minnesotan I understand your urgency to fix this. Winter is coming!

Yes, it worked over the entire summer, then quit about 2 weeks ago. As soon as you open the door, the phone shows the car gets connected to the server, and you can remote the climate through the app. After I lock the car it stays connected for a little while, then connection goes away - I suspect the problem is when the car goes to deep sleep.
