If you can, can you check in the parking mode settings what the voltage cut off limit is? ( It seems to be not mentioned in the manual though so maybe it's not user visible)
Sorry, can't see this information anywhere.

You CAN use wireless CarPlay as usual with the dashcam installed.

They way I have set it up is that is uses it's own Wi-Fi so I can access that from the phone (the default config). It is not connected to the cars Wi-Fi. That way I can use CarPlay as before.

The only problem I have had is that CarPlay with override the Wi-Fi setup on the iPhone when you connect to the camera Wi-Fi and you have to reconnect. I disabled CarPlay on the phone when I need to access the camera if this problem comes.

The Porsche Dashcam app is not the best but it does the job.

I had the car delivered from factory with the pre-wiring for dashcam. They dealership said they would use 3 hours to do the install. But they used more time since they had some problems and was missing some cables. They had the car for a day and a half since they had to wait for the cables from another dealership. But I only paid for the 3 hours that was in the offer they gave me.

It was costly, about $1460 in totalt for the front and back dashcam with installation and so on. But seeing Porsche is a pain in the ass with warranties it's "worth" it. The cameras itself was just $500. On top of that in Norway we have a 25% VAT.

The partsnumbers they used is listed here:
9Y0044951 (cameras) $500
9Y0044955C (cable set for camera) $35
9Y0044956 (cable set for camera) $35
9Y0044956A (cable set for camera) $35

The installation is ok enough.

Thanks for this! It looks like your install is exactly what I hoped for mine. I assume the lens is centered on the plastic trim. I might ask them to move it slightly higher but on the other hand we need a gap for the plastic trim to still be removable.

I appreciate you sharing!

I have my Blackvue front dashcam mounted on the passenger side (right in the US) up behind the mirror and absolutely does not block my view as a driver. I have the rear camera tucked up in the rear passenger window. You cannot see it and it does not obstruct my view. Look at the picture and there is no sign of a rear camera. No wires visible other than those plugged in the front camera.

tnx for sharing this, i also specced the pre-wired dashcam option, do you have a photo of showing the pre-wired cables before the installation? wondering how it looked like before and I hope they are not just hanging there. The same for the rear cable, was it at your request to stick the rear cam position or dealer did it without asking you? because it looks very odd/disturbing (in the middle), and has the part of the cable visible, i wish the dealer could have done a better job considering the amount of money they charged.

Just wanted to add that if you want GPS reception on the Blackvue camera (and have thermally and noise insulated glass?), you need to move it the other way around with the connector part into the black dotted area. It will make it more visible though and a bit off center... still fine though for me.
(here is another thread that uses a similar location -- that one is a tad more to the left but then you will get the black dots into the view).

The cabling that is done is not visible. It just cuts down the job from 8 to 3 hours. The reason for the placement in the back is that it has to within the rear viper blades reach so that the image from the camera is viewable.

After tax season! Honestly, it was not that hard at all. I spent more time over thinking the pressing the camera to the glass with the 3M as I knew it was a 1x thing. Of course now I want the security holder so the techs cannot unplug it when in the shop and that means 3M removal!

The manual for Porsche Dashcam is 230 pages in various languages . Here is the english section. I will research the install but the mechanic had only 1 sheet and all it showed was the camera installed on the right side. Sorry re the confusion re Europe but after we moved the camera the mechanic said he thought of European cars with right side driving. Again the camera blocks view if mounted on left side.

Only install instructions showed placement of camera on left side. But this blocks drivers view. Attached are the english guide from the 230 page dashcam guide that is in various languages

Here is the manual that is in the Porsche Dashcam application. I will try and get the fuse slot info from the mechanic. Note the manual refers to vehicle battery monitoring, the camera monitors its own energy use and in order to protect the vehicle battery and maintain operational. This is critical for the Taycan with its' 12 v battery. Do other cameras do this? This is why Porsche wants only this camera in the Taycan I think. The parking mode interacts with the Taycan's radar sensors so if someone hits car while parked the camera activates. The question Taycan owners have to ask do you want to risk putting a non Porsche part in your $150K car and have it potentially void your warranty? This is probably why the manual states have a Porsche partner do the installation ( and they can charge $1700 just to install). I think its worth it if i am involved in an accident and In CA the other driver almost always claims they were not at fault.
My records in one minute intervals, ie 30 minute trip, 30 separate videos. Anyway to have it record in one continuous video?
