Installed a Porsche dash cam on my 2025 Taycan Turbo GT. it has an app so you can see the video without having to take the card out. BUT! When you install the app on your iPhone, car play stops working because the camera hijacks the WiFi connection! Once you install the app and set it up, only way of recovering Car Play is to delete the Camera app. Even if you force the WiFi to connect with the car for at Play it just doesn’t load. At all!. Grrrr….. incompatible Porsche features!!!😡😡

The part description for the DashCams reference the fact that you lose “wireless” CarPlay when they are installed. You have to use the USB cable to have both running together.

Can you just kill the app (instead of uninstalling it)?

Similar with fitcamx. Best workaround is to just use the camera app on a different device eg iPad.

I had this with my Viofo A139Pro but solved it by switching Auto Reconnect off. See image
Also on the Viofo it automatically turns wifi off after a few minutes if the App is not being used

That is so bad, thank Christ I read this post ! As was just about to get Porsche to install front and back for an eye watering £1.2k. Have you reported to Porsche yet to see what their response is ?

It is the same with all cameras that use WiFi to connect to a mobile. They compete with the car for the connection. You should be able to resolve this by turning off auto reconnect in the phone wifi settings for the camera.

But still don't buy the Porsche dashcam it's a rebadged old Audi unit. There are much better cameras

I agree. I actually like the camera which sits within the rear view mirror casing, as looks like a decent option(forget the name) but is sleeker looking much more cost efficient, although the warranty question mark & potential argument with PC is putting me off ! Should anything go wrong.

You don't have to uninstall the app. I had the Porsche dashcam in my previous CT4. What you do is that you just connect to the dashcam when you need to get something of it, update it or change settings. No need to be connected all the time. That way you can use wireless carplay.

Good stuff sounds like pretty much a non issue then. Just the price of them are the issue !! Way over the odds, I was quoted £1200 front & back cams. Porch York.

In my experience, the car wifi keeps reconnecting every time you do that, so you keep getting booted off the camera's wifi. I tried fiddling about with phone wifi settings but ended up deleting the taycan as a network on my phone and that turned into a right kerfuffle. Hence my suggestion of using a different device. Works fine for me, especially as i only want to look at footage to check its working every now and again and in the event of an accident or whatever.

What I did was to disable carplay on my phone while using the camera app. A bit of a hazzle but I did not have to check the camera very often.

I will but I am sure I will waste my time - I reported all the issues with my previous 2021 Taycan and to this date not a word back from Porsche.
