I really need the improved connectivity for Apple Car Play that is listed in the new features list.
Will a dealer know about this workshop campaign and perform it under warranty? Or does the car have to exhibit a problem before they’ll do it?

If dealer shows your 25 VIN assigned to WRV3 campaign, it should be handled under warranty.

The actual TSB with directions to dealer service for WRV3 is referenced in the dealer notice above, but has not yet been posted on NHTSA.

From the info filed with NTHSA:
Campaign Exception for Punch Time Requirements:
Programming Campaigns with Integration test
PCNA will make an exception to warranty policy regarding the necessary time keeping procedures when performing campaigns with an Integration test (Integration tests involve automatic programming of multiple control units and often cannot be skipped when the PT4G is connected to an applicable vehicle). Though
warranty policy guidelines state that no technician may be punched on more than one R.O. at the same time, an exception will be made for these campaigns. Due to the extensive programming time necessary
a technician may perform multiple integration test campaigns at one time, as long as there is a separate identifiable punch for each on the respective repair order and the total number of campaigns beingperformed at one time does not exceed 3 vehicles. The exception will be made so that full "active participation time" does not need to be documented for these 3 campaigns only.

I understand that for cost reasons sometimes dealers have a limited number of PIWIS test devices.

From the info extracted above:
- the time taken for the s/w installation & test is lengthy so Porsche wants the work to occur in parallel rather than in series.
- the exception approach to allow concurrent installation and testing on a single PIWIS device for up to 3 cars isn’t usual, but the advice is that the PIWIS device can support up to 3 concurrent jobs
- dealer installation testing occurs because there isn’t 100% confidence in Porsche’s own pre-implementation installation testing?

I recall examples of installations failing and dealer bug reports having to be filed with Porsche. Anyone else had that experience? Or is the dealer installation test generally reliable?

So even J1.2 Taycans don't have OTA updates yet. Obviously Porsche knows how much that costed them for J1's, apparently it will cost them up to 3x on J1.2 (seems like techs can triple bill their time). Is it that they can't do it, or just stubborn to never do it because Elon did it first?

Given Porsche’s car IT architecture and sourcing strategy, with multiple different hardware and software components from multiple suppliers, and multiple car configuration options, it’s difficult to see them being able to do reliable OTA updates which could affect integration. It seems some dealer onsite dealer updates take hours. I assume that Musk was able to take a simplified approach.

There's at least some capability to update at least the PCM via OTA. I received the YouTube functionality automatically maybe about 4-6 weeks ago. But yeah, the number of different modules and dependencies must be overwhelming such that Porsche keeps things to PIWIS for now. At some point, I'll try to have this performed on my J1.2.

Don't you want your car to be one of the first to get the software update?

Apple Car Play sucks IMO. Better off without it.

Porsche has had a dedicated OTA module in Taycan since the original 2020 model year, which theoretically has more capabilities than PIWIS.
Porsche Taycan TSB: 2025 Model Year: WRV3 campaign – Update to software network VR11 - Dec. 9, 2025 1736790019702-rj

What seems to be missing is the software in all ECU's written in a way that can be updated quickly and automatically. Longest Tesla OTA updates take maybe an hour. Even with PIWIS, updates can take longer and often require human debugging of what went wrong during the update, then fixing it.

You still use the copper wall phone line also, right?

This dark pesky technology that loads faster than 5 minutes sucks so hard; better spend 5-10mins for PCM Spotify to load, good old reliable ways, right?

lmao

I wonder if any dealer would risk doing it to older taycans as a favour, or if it will ever come to older taycans. Sure hope it does…

Yeah, that sounds about right for me. Always one or two steps behind the latest technologies.

Just as a side note though, my Spotify loads immediately through my PCM..

All my Taycan connectivity is down since feb 13. So no traffic info, no weather or news app, no spotify and nothing in the app works.
Went to the dealer today and they checked and it seems that for most taycan and cayenne all those service are down since mar 5. We did see that the car had an update open and it was the wrv3 so we planned that in.
I hope that update solves (some of) the connectivity issues.

Post 1 above edited to add link to the actual TSB for WRV3 software update. It applies to 2025 model year Taycans. Has long list of many ecus that are updated, including updates for Porsche Connect.
