That's totally Right!This was new to me... they made prototype electric Boxsters back in 2011:

So apparently they've been looking at EVs for a good while...
The first actual "Porsche" cars were Hybrids and EV's back in 1900 (called Lohner Porsche).
So, electrified type of driving is a topic, which was more or less part of the companies history.
It really began with the first hybrids (GT3-R) in the Motorsport market and went from there to the series model to now the first complete EV car: the Taycan.
