No thanks. I don't yearn for the loud car noise of yesterday's technology. Immediate blistering smooth speed and quiet. Stealth jet.

I also realize from years now of walking around a town that filled up early with lots of Teslas, none of which make any pedestrian warning sounds while driving in the forward direction, that pedestrian
I believe that after 2019(?) they have forward and reverse PWS. See this video. Also, I belive the Taycan has a subtle PWS from a front speaker even if you don't have ESS. It's hard to tell if it is the speaker or the drive system. But in the USA I believe it is mandatory.

That doesn’t sound like the sport sound? I spec’d it on my build but rarely used it. I turned it on today to compare, but it sounds different to me. Is this an aftermarket mod?

No way! I'm looking forward to the day when all you hear is a mild whir going by on the roadways instead of tomato can exhaust backfires from a bad boy Subaru WRX or other rice rocket and damn cartoonish rollin' coal jacked diesel penis envying hillbillly trucks that sees less off-road than my Cross Turismo.
Also don't get the official Porsche noise maker option either because there's a nice sound from the motors themselves in the Taycan.

Depending where you live, it's a safety issue.
The standard amplified sound cuts out over a certain speed, so if you're in an area like mine where moose collisions are a thing, sport sound could save your life.

So, I'm kinda in the middle of the road. I'm OK-ish with sound on an EV - as long as it's a synthesized sound like the Porsche option. I would have taken it if the car I bought happened to have it on the lot, but I wouldn't buy it if ordering my car so I could have it exactly as I like. I did demo it, probably would have turned it off after a while.

That said, I'm 100% **not OK** with having EVs with fake engine sounds. That, in my view, is just obnoxious. Reminds me of the posers with base BMW's who put M badges on the back. If you want to make engine sounds, buy a car with an engine.

Not looking forward to the future Dodge EV owners driving around with their "Fratzonic exhaust" - this is just noise for noise's sake. Even the name of the feature sounds annoying.

So, how do you feel about "performance" Hyundai EVs with programmed virtual shift points?

This is not about the sound on the exterior that warns pedestrians about your car's presence below 20 mph. This is about the fake sound inside to make you feel better about driving spiritedly your quiet car and the initial thread post video and comment about making it sound like a bad boy car outside fake exhaust.

So does their quietness mean only electric cars ever colide with a Moose? ;)

I think they are just stupid and the thing nobody will want once the unfamiliarity and ignorance has subsided.

I heard someone say that it’s equivalent of people wanting the sound of horses when they got the first motor car! 😂 (Obviously nobody asked for that).

I recently had a Macan courtesy car when my Taycan was in for a recall. All the engine noises it made seemed so ridiculous compared to my nice and silent Taycan. The combination of power and the silence of an EV is the future, you don’t need the sound of horses or an old fashioned engine!

I might want that a couple times a year when a McLaren is next to me. 🙄 Other than that, it just doesn’t seem to fit. Like watching a dubbed foreign film. Just not quite right. I like my Porsche sound, but admit it’s too quiet and need some user adjustable features to make it more interesting. The sound they made is just “meh”.
