A little birdy told me there's a Software/Firmware Update coming the week of November 9th, 2020.

I fully expect that the contents of that release have ALREADY been defined. So, realistically, I wouldn't get my hopes up if you were thinking of calling Porsche and telling them to put your favorite feature request into the next release.

Admin edit: the prediction comes by way of an upcoming HomeLink fix planned for the firmware update -- https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2020/MC-10177922-0001.pdf

Punched Cards.
Paper Tape if you subscribe to the AtHomeUpdate FoD.
...or was it Cassette Tapes?

A show of hands for anyone who actually loaded software into a computer via any or all of those methods... Anyone? Anyone other than me?!? And, no, doing it as part of a Civil War Re-enactments doesn’t count.

All of the above! Used Woolworth cassette tapes for years on trs-80. Had to record to 8 to get one good play back :)

I did. Punch cards (in FORTRAN) and cassette tapes.

I don’t really know. I might even have bad information on the date. Little birdies are sometimes vague or cryptic.

Yup. That was my experience too.
In school, ForTran on punched cards and at home Apple ][ cassette tapes. Probably cassettes on TRS-80 as well... though that might have been 5-1/4” floppies.
My first Tech job, I did some Release Engineering on 8” floppies.

@louv my taycan turbo is fantastic! The driving that is. Beyond expectations. Software on taycan arggg! You can get a glimpse of how cool it could be by using Apple CarPlay when plugged in. Much better graphics , faster response, beautiful UI.
But hey Porsche will update I’m sure. They did a fantastic job on the car. I’m really impressed.

Very similar: used 8” floppies too, but that was after my FORTRAN period and in my Pascal era. I am not an EE or Computer Science guy, but just a regular scientist.
