PSA: Easy entry issues

Hello all, just a note on what I experienced. Recently got the software update on my 2020 4S which added the auto lift and charging trip planner functionality. When I picked up the car I noticed that easy entry was not working properly. Only the seat would move (back when exiting, front when entering), but not the steering wheel. I could still move the steering wheel manually though.

Took it back to the dealer. It took them a while to figure out, but looks like there was a bug in the software which they eventually caught. They tried quite a few things before they caught the software bug, including replacing the control unit for the steering several times.

They released another version of the software to fix the easy entry issue (they had to upgrade the tester to upgrade the software :) ).

If anyone else notices this thread might help.

Porsche really needs to up their game in software quality and assurance. If I wasn’t afraid they would remotely brick the car, I’d say they need to make better use of the OTA capabilities. Tesla would have fixed this in a few days all OTA.

I -thought- it seemed a little more difficult than usual to get in and out.

Sigh. I'm just going to live with it for now, I'm fatigued by service visits.

The only counter i have for this is usually bugs are not cleanly isolated to just one thing. Easy entry might be one impact, there could be others. I would suggest getting it done. You might have to guide the service center a bit based on this thread.

A service visit is almost useless in any case that there is no red warning.
The car does not record errors for those bugs and there is nothing the dealer can do about them.
Been there, done than.. Waste of your time.

True. I did have to field questions like "was it really working before" and "it should have never worked" etc. But it was easy enough to demonstrate and my service advisor went above and beyond.

I disabled easy entry a few days after delivery. I find the lower B-pillar more prone to scratching during exiting with the seat moved back via easy entry.

Once there is a TSB posted here on the easy access thing, I will take it in. I don't want to have to hassle with convincing them there is a problem nor have them guessing at the fix.
