I know this is very nitpicking, pedantic even, but the amount of folks getting this wrong is ridiculous.

There is no such thing as a "J2" Taycan.
This will be reserved for the next generational leap in a few years.

The current facelift Taycan is J1 II or J1.2.
It's the same platform as the original Taycan J1, just a facelift / incremental update.

Why does this matter? In all honesty, to many, it doesn't! However, when the next gen J2 platform does launch in a few years, it's going to make finding correct information on the forums about your car a nightmare. If you're savvy enough to know the car's platform code, you should be savvy enough to get it correct.

Rant over, feel free to ignore :)

Thanks for your feedback.

We may or may not ignore it

Most people call it facelifted taycan or MY25 to be honest, so it’s whatever.

If there is a 100% EV platform for the next generation Taycan, I hope it's based on a new EV only architecture.
The J1 platform itself is based on a modified Panamera chassis which has some setbacks.

Hopefully J1 and J1.2 will not ruin totally the future of J2. Things seem on the edge now.
Reliability, amortization, part costs (especially battery, but all others as well) make the car disposable in very short turn (7-9 years). This results people turning back to ICE more and more, although the car's capability is amusing.
If annual production goes under 10-15k, it is killed.

Very good point. The reference to the correct generation or revision will be important. Porsche presentation materials refer to the revisions as J1 I and J1 II. Let's use that.

This is consistent with Porsche naming terminology on gasoline cars. It'll take time to get used to bc it starts with how people refer to the car back in 2020.

In Rennlist(Porsche forums) you'll have more consistent naming.

When the 992 came out, enthusiasts already call it 992.1.

I'm hoping 'J' is dropped (feels like it was the Joke platform for many of us), 'K' is the way forward!

Thank you. I didn’t know that and your point is very lucid and valid. Appreciated.

I don’t know. I think that is more-so for the people that bought new and went through 20+ recalls. I got mine in September and absolutely love the car and have already started thinking about my next one. There was an open recall the day I got it which they fixed right away while I drove a loaner Taycan which the delivered to me and now there is obviously a new recall which I already have an appointment for in a few weeks and they will bring me a car to drive. I fully understand that this is certainly not everybody’s experience, but some people will have good experiences like that, and love the car as much as I do and would likely feel differently than people who have worked with dealerships that are less accommodating or have had problems that have affected the drivability of their vehicle. One of my only issues is with the car is that I actually find the seats pretty uncomfortable, but I don’t know anyone else who has had that issue.
